If you want to retain the maximum quantity of trichomes on your material, then fine trim over a screen just before smoking the bud, those resiny single bud leaves will dry and wrap around and protect the resin on the bud from touching other surfaces.

and believe it or not, 90% of commercial bud starts off being pretty damn good...but it's just due to poor handling resulting in 40% or more resin loss by the time the end user has it on his tray and it about to smoke it. It's the mauling, grabbing, throwing, dragging, hitting, banging, squashing, packing in and out of plastic bags along the way that does it!

In the 90s there was quite a bit of beasters moving through here. My friend was always trying to figure out why it was kiefed every time. He had all sorts of conspiracy theories how the growers were smoking all the resin powder, making hash oil, he had a lot of silly ideas.
I always told him it's bad handling plus neglect. Many commercial growers know how to grow but don't necessarily know the plant. With high numbers and low man power they are cutting corners. Processing and trimming too fast and/or with machines. Knocking all the resin off the plants so there's very little left. Then stuffing it into plastic bags and shaking it around. By the time it gets smuggled to the consumer all that's left is the plant matter. Still has enough THC to get the consumer high but a shadow of it's former glory.
Add to that commercial strains that are more for yield then potency, harvesting too early, and all the mistakes that happened when you're trying to max out plant numbers and you get kiefed looking beasters.
As far as the topic, greeny smelling 5 day cured ganja. Of course it's greeny. Wait until it dries and cures. If you're worried your flowers have 'lost it' pinch a bud and smell. It won't smell as good as fresh or after it's properly dried but it'll have some of that nice aroma. Pinch and smell is the method for testing any dried ganja.
