Bud Rot

I think my outdoor Black Afghan plants have been overcome by bud rot, which is a shame, since they are supposed to be pretty hardy to that. Can you look at my pics and verify? I don't have that much experience with it. Many thanks in advance.Click image for larger version

I honestly can't tell by those pictures. Can you open the bud up and lets take a look on the inside??

Do you see any white or gray mold inside the buds?

Anyway, I hope that you DON'T have budrot, believe me I know the battle very well. I have not had to deal with much of it this year as usual since switching to organics, but I have a bit here and there. I have in the past lost up to around 60% of my entire grow to the nasty shit one year we had continuous rains.

I can't tell from your pictures. I can't see any obvious boytritis but that doesn't mean they don't have it. Why do you think those buds are rotten?
The parts that have bud rot should easily pull away from the bud. If you tug on a rotten leaf it should pull away from the flower easily. If the part isn't rotten it'll show resistance before it tears off. There's times when I'm not sure, especially with purple strains, and I'll use this test.

The rev is right and also a lot of the times the bud crumbles. After the fluffy white stuff and the bud dries it turns to a brownish gray with some black and powders really easy if that makes sense. You would know if it is rotten.

Thanks everyone. I'll post a few more pics of the bud pulled open. I think I'm concerned with the bud rot because there were a couple tops of the buds that had clear bud rot, and now I'm thinking that anything that has a brownish tone might be rot. This questionable brownies isn't really pulling apart easily though.

On the last two picks there's tiny grey patches right on the stem that's probably a couple spots of molds. Most of the flowers look ok. Easy to cut it out with the scissors. Usually the mold starts inside the flower around the stem. I'll cut of the small flowers' stems where they hit the main stem of the cola. Keep going up until I hit mold and clean it out.
I think most of the brown parts are okay. It drives me crazy with moldy stuff, after you find a little you start seeing it everywhere. And as the flowers dry it gets hard to tell. The mold blends into the natural discoloration.
I hate mold, never want to smoke it but on the other hand you don't want to toss perfectly good ganja. I use the stress test and look for the grey color. I figure if it's too close to call it's okay. Or I get frustrated and compost the entire cola..

Thanks Reverend. Really good tips to follow. I just drive myself crazy. Because once I see it I start freaking out that every spot of brown is mold. Appreciate you sharing your experience and advice

Yes I see that too, what he is seeing. I had to look over it a few times to make sure but I sure do see it. Does not look extremely bad though. Like the Rev said just cut around it.

What I always do when I trim is have a spray bottle next to me full of 3% hydrogen peroxide. When I come up on some mold, I spray it and it eats the nasty shit right up in a matter of seconds, then I cut it out. Then I spray again around the infected area that was removed and it always takes care of it and prevents it from spreading.

I know what you mean, once you find it you begin to believe it is everywhere and you have a gut feeling of constant impending doom lol. It surely is not a good feeling!
