I'm growing outdoors in the ground (not pots ) all plants were feed compost tea. i have a ring around each plant the rings r about 5 feet across about 6 inches deep n 6 inches above ground my plan is to pump water out of the river, into a 100 gal tank, ph the water, then flood the plant (all the plants r a lb or better, do ya think it will work? n if so how much water do ya think i'll need?

3 times the amount of root space if your grow was 100 percent true organic and no synthetic whatsoever then you don't have to worry so much about flushing because there's no chemicals

When growing organic what does a flush really do? Considering most organic compounds need water and oxygen to break down I'm willing to bet you wouldn't notice a difference.

To quote the great Johnny Mac...You cannot be serious! You would like to 'flush' your outdoor grow? On the grounds that you remember some weed from '85 being better because it was flooded...is this like a joke or something?
I suggest the only thing that needs flushing is a toilet....oh yea and maybe an indoor grow where synthetic ferts have been used. |

Well good after noon bittyy with 2 y's.. that 's a nice way to answer my question with sarcasm. as for johnny mac i don't follow him,but i'm sure he's funny (n that funny with 1 y) I'll get u a quote later bitty with 2 y's, now back to my flushing, about 4 years ago i started using aerated compost tea.. using the tea lab recipe.. in the fall after harvest,, i put things back in my soil,,shit,, clipping,,weeds from out of the river,, etc. Well the first year i did some thing stupid,, i teaed my plants way way to much. the end result was that i fucked things up with to much kindness pot taste like crap n burned badly 2nd year with less tea, pot was better, but not as good as i'd like. (bad after taste) last year with even still less tea n diluted, the pot was great. So this year i got to thinking,, back around the mid 80's i got flooded (flooding in the fall doesn't happen much)that year i through my crop was going to to drown n die but to my surprize it was fine n really stood out as one of my better grows., so this year when i planted i put in what i call "flushing ring" so i through i would flush to see if it makes a big difference n i was hopeing some one else had tried it. So bittyy with 2 y's u just jump in line n follow every one else it sounds like your good at it. O ya. your quote," don't put all your eggs in 1 basket" ( i'm referring to your gorilla grow, that got hacked n left to rot ) back when i did that, my biggest gorilla grow (with a partner) consisted of 775 plants (seed plants no cuttings) 12 plants in a corn field, at a time Now have a good day Buddyy with to y's

It sounds like you have a mostly organic grow outdoors in the ground.
same way I do it... You don't need to flush it. The overwatering will just cause more leaves to yellow and die on the plant, and make it harder for you to trim them out when you harvest real soon. Good luck!

Thank u for the reply, i don't worry to much about over watering my plants, they get all their water from me, starting in late august, that is when i start covering them every night n in the day if needed (no more rain water no more of that nightly dew on my plants) what i've been doing is flooding them with 100 gallons of water about 2 week before harvest ( when all the resin glands r still clear) it's such a easy thing to do, so i'm doing it. Thanks again Bud Green Sr. by the way r u any relation to Red Green

I feed the compost tea as the "main meal" when the plants are watered the first time of the day.
If they are watered after that, it's just to cool the roots & pull new air into the root mass. On the Day of the George Washington Cutting down the Cherry Tree re-enactment (AKA Harvest), I water the plant that will be harvested with just water. There's nothing wrong with giving the plants extra just-plain-water. I have found that is necessary sometimes in organic soil at the other end of the grow cycle, if I have an interesting seedling in soil that's too hot for it, and it needs some major rinsing. Twice now I have had that happen with a smaller White-Widow-ish phenotype of Apollo 11. I think sometimes if your gut tells you the plant needs the kind of watering you are describing ... you might be right. You don't need a reason - maybe the plant is talking and you're listening. |

Hello all,
I personally do not feed the last weeks before harvest to allow the plants to use up the nutes stored within them and let the leaves yellow and fall. I only water and the last days before harvest when its getting cold outside, I just water heavy a few days before harvest...the plants have turgidity and it is easy to remove the big fan leaves. I leave most of the sugar bud leaves and hang them for a month in the cold dry garage. I buck the buds and stuff them in a jar with a boveda pack. I trim at time of use...my buds are tasty and perfect for my needs. Your mileage may vary. minds_I
