Afropips Durban Poison Repro from DC's Garden Tester Grow

Afropips Durban Poison Repro from DC's Garden Tester Grow by Liberty Ridge Farms!

Hi Everyone! I'm nicknamed Shooter, and I'll be getting the privilege to Test Dave Couliers' Durban Poison F2s. We were all hoping for a Spring start to these grows so we could (those of us who had access) test 'em outdoors or in green houses. But I'm lucky enough to also have a indoor grow area to test these with over the winter.

I use organic-like or the "Green" method of growing. I use soil mixtures that are made up of native soils from SW Washington State in a forested area. PH of our soil is anywhere from 5.7 to 6.1 from the testing we've done with our meter. My indoor pots are usually at 5.9-6.0, after mixing in perlite and vermiculite. Pots are drawn from a composting area that sees kitchen compost/coffee grounds, goat manure and pony manure mixed with straw and hay. Because of the coffee grounds it is also very rich in EWCs.

That is it for food to my plants, typically not too much of an issue for indicas and short flowering hybrids, some of my long flowering sativas like Zamaldelica will yellow out their leaves looking for nutrients. I don't feed my plants during veg or flower.

Pest control amounts to two things, neem oil and Captain Jacks Dead Bug (diatomaceous earth). Oh and fly strips, lol, the damn manure in the compost soil leaves me with that problem.

Now on to the Durban Poison!! Hell Yeah!!

I planted 5 seeds to start! I'll do more soon I promise, on Monday the 25 of September the day I got them from Seedbay. Four in Solo cups and one in a one gallon container. #1, 3, &4 are already necking up in three days. Seeds direct to the soil, no soak or paper towels.

Lights are 6 32w fluorescents hanging in my flower room with a 600w HPS and 600w Metal Halide, on a 16/8 on/off schedule.

Pics!!!

Thanks Dave! And Old Pink!

Subbed. I've watched Dave grow and breed these for a couple years. It's an amazing looking strain. Can't wait to see what happens in your more than capable hands.
Are they going to be indoors or are you able to run the greenhouse over the winter?

Thinking this would be a great strain for your angled trellis.

Best of luck with these and may all your Buds be Huge.

Peace GG

Week One update

A week ago today I received the seeds and here today out of the 5 planted I've seen 100% germination. 01-04 are all up and open with their first set of leaves started, #05 has popped up sides ways with the baby leaves but hasn't stood up and started growing yet, not sure if it will, we shall see.

One - Four

Five

This what I'm going to do with the best female of the bunch next spring, grow her big on a trellis in this greenhouse.

They are looking good Shooters. I had a couple of seedlings come up like your #5 in my recent batch of Durban too. Once the stem got a little taller, I gently coaxed it into the right direction. Now its doing just fine a week later. It'll probably be a lil behind the others, but It'll catch up fast.

Thats an incredible looking plant for so many reasons. I love the trellis, and really like how healthy she is in flower. I dont see a single yellow leaf, let alone any fading leaves. Nicely done! Can we get a picture from behind the trellis next time?

Hi again! The trellis plants aren't grown from the back side out, so pics of that don't show much except an occasional leaf that sticks through the lattice. I transplant each plant to the same angle as the trellis then tie off each branch as it grows to train the plant not to grow vertical. Once the top reaches the roof, I just turn it u-shape and tie it back to the trellis.

Week two update:

Growing fine now 'cept #05 decided to cull itself, so the first batch will just be 1-4.
