explosion proof vs ignition resistant fan
https://www.bestvaluevacs.com/20-ign...w-ducting.html
https://www.wctproducts.com/products/...oof-blower.php So as usual nothing is what it seems. The one fan is $550 and the other is $1700. Is explosion resistant different than explosion proof? I feel like extraction companies mark shit up pretty high because they know consumers, believing they're gonna kill it, will justify exorbitant costs. In this case it's the opposite. Is the cheaper fan that sub par? Can someone tell me if the cheaper fan is safe, or is the other one that much safer? Many thanks. On that note, how much butane/propane would it take to level a house? I think the answer, although I don't know it exactly, is good to read/reread to keep branding it into people's conscious, consciousness, you know what I mean |

Simply from a definition point, resistant is vastly different from proof. I can take a water resistant watch into the shower, not the pool. I can take a water proof watch into water as deep as it's rated for.

Look for the IP rating, the one with the highest will be the safest
Semantics mean fuck all in potentially explosive situations

If you are in an environment that has combustible gases or vapors , with the slightest possibility of creating an explosive mixture of oxygen and combustible gas , you want explosion proof . the explosive gas will infiltrate into the resistant fixture and the slightest spark may create an explosion .

The explosion proof has the electrical wiring and motor encased, if a winding on the motor melts and produces a spark, no problem. Even if an external flash explosion occurs, the unit will remain sealed, and will not present a possible further point of ignition.
I like the term Best Value Vacs uses, ignition resistant. Common sense elimination and/or sealing of possible ignition sources. I have no idea of BVV's standards in this regard, the pictures aren't detailed enough.
