freezing tubes
So I've been freezing tubes over night with plastic caps on the ends. It's definitely not air tight. Does it need to be? How long do they need to be in there to freeze? How do I avoid getting water in my system?
Along those lines, my buddy puts slabs in the fridge/freezer wide open theorizing that it will dry them out. I feel like it adds moisture. Any opinions? Thx. |

Things should become more dry as they sit in the freezer due to sublimation. That is where frozen stuff evaporates directly to a gas without passing through the liquid phase. This is why ice cubes shrink after months in the freezer.
The trouble is when you take the item out from the freezer. If the humidity is high enough, dew will form on the cold surfaces. Important that you keep those caps on until you are ready to blow the tube. IMO... you should let the filled tube soak in the freezer for at least 24h, depending on the diameter of your tube. I assume that bone dry canabis leaves are a terrible conductor of heat. It probably takes a long time for the heat to conduct from the material in the center of the tube to the surface of the tube. |

Back when I was making shatter I worked with a guy who absolutely insisted the tubes be frozen for 24 hours minimum.
I found this to waste a lot of time and eventually stopped doing it......funny thing was that I saw the exact same results using non-frozen tubes as I did frozen tubes. Based on that, I could no longer justify the waste of time freezing the tubes and just packed them then sprayed them down. |

I notice a huge difference when soaking in dry ice for a few hours. Quality and purity go up. Yield goes down.

^^ This right here. Why would I keep a tube frozen to -10 or as low as the freezer goes, when the cold butane (also chilled to like -20) is goingto feeeze that shit WAY below -20 It's achieving the same thingwith faster results. I also found that using 5 micron screens would filter out a lot of those cold frozen waxes and stuff. |
