pre-harvest washing?
What do you think about washing plants before harvesting, to get rid of dust and other residues? If necessary, what's the best way to do it?
My indoor 400W hydro scrog is 10 days away from harvest and I just started my final flush. I never leaf-fed my ladies, but I'm concerned about C dust from my scrubber and other residue. Pros, cons, experiences - I'm interested to hear what you think. |

I wouldn't bother, could just eventually cause possible mold problems. I would imagine most of the dust would get caught on the leaves, which you'll be turning into hash or cannabutter anyways (I would hope you won't be smoking em plain) which would get rid of your concerns.

I had outdoors plants that were already harvested cause of certain issues but they have lots of dust on them and I already dried them and trimmed them and now there dry but still has alot of dust in them, how should I go about getting it out? I was thinking doing a quick water cure since there already dry? Or I was thinking since I dont really want to do a water cure would it be ok to rinse the buds off and then just redry them? Thanks.

just dip them and swish GENTLY for a few moment(like 3-5 seconds) then pull them out and air dry, they won't absorb much water and should dry to the previous level in an hour or so. Be sure to change the water often.
next time before you trim grab a vacuum cleaner and vacuum the buds, sounds funny but I have seen an outdoor AZ harvest that had a lot of dirt and dust on it, he vacuumed the buds and the swished in water briefly and that was all it took. |

only spray with distilled water 1-2 days before harvest if dirt is a problem... is the only thing I would advise to slightly and gently "wash" your buds...

I see dipping buds in water not a problem. Make sure there is good ventilation and you don't have to worry about mold.

Hello Closet Funk, how do you go about dipping the buds in water? right after you harvest them? then dry and cure? i have thought about doing that but am not sure whether it can damage the harvest.
how about using one of those hose noses that allow you to spray water in different pressures and mists, use a soft to mild rain mist with the hose a couple of days before you harvest... this causes no problem for Outdoor growers for the sun dries the plants well in short time... i dunno if artifical lights can do the job so quickly so as to prevent mold issues... peace!

WOW do alot of peeps really do this? Spraying down (or dunking) buds right before harvest doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
Shit Ive never noticed any dust or anything like that on my buds, but maybe its just that I never noticed and Im used to it now I don't know

I did it because I live in a desert so it gets very dusty/sandy so the bud had sand all on it and it was easy to brush off but it gets deep into it and when youd break it to say roll a blunt or a joint you could see sand on the paper, I filled up my sink then took the buds and carefully and gently washed each one and laid it out to dry then when all done and all the buds were dry I cured them and now about a week later I definatly know the potency has increased on the bud and all the sand and shit is gone so I dont think it affected it negatively in any way.

I thought about washing one of my buds, since a bird took a shit on one of my best looking buds. I waited and luckily the rain washed it out. Still, I don't like the idea of smoking a bud that was just covered in bird shit.
