I need to winterize large volumes of 10:1 Ethanol:Crude @ -50c. I'd like to filter about 50-100 gallons a day of a mixture that is loaded with lipids.

Some one suggested Filter Press, but I have no idea what kind to look at I googled for hours but they seem to be all over the place.

I would be in you debt if any of you experts could suggest a good way to filter large volumes that are efficient and leave me with a white cake of lipids.

I have a hochstrom and a couple of buchners and that what I use right now but these are just not fast enough. I am in search for a faster solution.

if you cant get the "speed" you desire out of these purpose built devices then we must look at your method.

describe your filter stack?vac assist? media present?

personally i wouldn't pay $k's for something i could make to suit my uses.

or go to your local sheet metal fab shop and save money while getting exactly what you want.

also look into industrial recirculating filter systems, bio diesel refining, and beer/wine for other avenues of approach.

usually when you've got the dough for big boy parts....questions stop.

My boss has the dough but I just need to point us in the right direction. Filtering is not my strong suit so I am having a lot trouble looking at all kinds of different stuff, it's confusing the crap outta me.

Curious why you are winterizing at -50C instead of -30C? If you lab test your filter cake after winterizing at -50C I think you'll find that you've got more than a negligible amount of cannabinoids mixed in with the lipids.

And there are 50L industrial vacuum filtration systems all over the internet, and your local scientific glassblower could easily build you a custom one in 100L+ volume. If you have the $ get a massive jacketed filter made so you can run -30C coolant through it, you can change the filter less often without the lipids warming up and going through the filter
