You are correct!

I've explained earlier how copyright works.

Asking for a take down of image(s) is absolutely NO BIG DEAL, and to make a big deal out it, just shows that person doesn't know how the WWW & copyright law works.

Thousands of takedown requests are issued daily, mostly by PROFESSIONAL photographers (people who make a living from photography), or their agents, or photo licensing bureaus. It rarely goes beyond that. The next step would be legal action (a cease and desist order). Failing that, a lawsuit would follow. So unless you're prepared to pay a lawyer thousands to get maybe a hundred or so back, doesn't make sense.

So when someone who just happens to have taken a pic (like with a cellphone), not a pro, just an amateur photographer, suddenly acts like they've been wronged and owed something, it's pretty laughable these days. Esp. since ppl are posting up hundreds of millions of images a day to social networks, who then can do what they like with those images in many cases.

But just remember you MUST prove your copyright or you will get nowhere. I mentioned earlier in the thread how to do that.

So lay off the vendor, as he has done precisely what he is supposed to do, even though he bears no responsibility for making the copy or hosting it without knowing the copyright.

Just like here on ICMag (and pretty much anywhere on the Internet), YOU are responsible for what you post, not ICMag or social networking websites.

Websites can only be responsible if they refuse to take action to take down something they KNOW is illegal (including pirated material).
