Low Dark Genetics, First Breeding Rather Stable??
Hey
![]() I grew out an auto-flower strain which contained some genetics which are not auto and flower with only 4hrs of dark. I vegged nearly 2 dozen plants 6 months at 24/0 and then bred the plants which did not auto-flower. There were about 5-6 plants which did not autoflower. The first sprouting of the seeds has produced over 50% non-auto plants. I was expecting a much lower ratio of non-autos... can I expect more autoflower genetics to crop up in higher ratios after further breeding? Greatly appreciate any insight.

Sounds as if you were working with F2s of an Auto x Regular cross.
If you weed out the auto flowering plants you should get closer & closer if using open pollenation techniques such as your previous breeding. If you'd prefer to have fully regular flowering plants your best bet would be to hit several apparantly regular ladies clones with several individual males then test the progeny. Make sense? |

It was an open mix of 3rd and 4th generation autos. There happened to be a low number of plants which would stay in veg under 22hrs of light, this is the trait I'm breeding for.Quote:
