Growing corn for a fenceline.

Hey all, I'm currently setting up a spot for 99 1/2 yard holes. The property is just under 30 acres. There are 2 neighbors that would have a view of the garden (they're a good distance away, though).

Instead of throwing up a fence, I was considering growing a row of corn on the two sides that are visible from the neighbors property.

I'd estimate 150-200 feet of fenceline/corn would be needed.

Would 1 row be enough, or do I need to do multiple rows? It doesn't need to be an impenetrable barrier, just something that makes it much less visible. And can I just run a soaker hose down the length of the row, up against the stalks? I'd rather not spend a large amount of time working the ground and making mounds so I could flood the row. I want to make watering simple.

I can tell you I used to grow in cornfields guerilla style in Indiana and I would only grow 1-2 per spot and still had trouble concealing them once the corn turns brown in September. I grew the earliest strains I could find so if your growing later blooming strains they will definitely stick out in October unless you grow very tall corn.

Corn likes to be top watered. It enjoys high humidity. Most industrial corn farms use sprinklers. There are probably better hedges to use.

Green giant

I've been thinking of using the Thuja Green Giant as a barrier for the garden.. Just got to find enough for cheap haha.

3 rows each side would do. I've done this before and it's a great privacy option.

I would plant the corn then throw some more seeds in a couple of weeks later . That way you have corn growing longer . And the corn fence will be greener longer . Good luck
