Unhappy Let Down by the "Fruitylicious"

I have grown out Mandala's Hashberry with great success and from
the description this "Fruitylicious" should have been great
BUT
2 out of 3 hermied the first round, they all have an increadibly
bland taste and smell. And the oddest part is all 3 of my plants
look like they are leaning toward Sativa NOT Indica

I have grown out a few of Mandala's strains and I was Always happy
with what I got Except for these "Fruitylicious"

Has anyone else come across this problem?

yea - your right, I just got accustomed to getting lucky.
Now that I'm doing seeds again I have to find some more keepers

I do have a great Satori mom right now and a few F2's that I'm happy with - so I don't want to say Mandala Seeds aren't good, I've found a few great keepers from him and Im happy -- it was just the fruitylicious that let me down

3 seeds isn't really a fair trial. That said, while I've never tried Fruitilicious, I found incredibly Satori and Beyond the Brain phenos popping only 5 seeds each. I gave up on Krystalica after a few seeds because I didn't need any new strains and didn't find anything to change my mind.

you're right 3 seeds doesn't represent what this strain might have
but
I didn't expect a Mandala strain to go hermie on me, let alone 3 of them - I kinda hold Mandala to a high standard because of past experiences, I've grown out their White Satin, Sadhu, HashBerry and Satori and have found keepers within each - I'm just having issues with this Fruitylicious

on a side note - how was Krystalica? I was considering picking some up, it sounds really nice

oh btw - thanks for the replies - I know I don't post much here

I found fruitylicious unexceptional & a bit inconsistent. Def more of a sativa-ish form. Of 2 plants grown outdoors by a friend one was a very late finisher, never fully matured. Indoors it's just weed, not a fave of anybody in my circle.

Their Rishi Kush is quite good. Easy to grow with good potency & an uplifting, lively & sociable high.

hey, thanks Jhhnn - I noticed that too, much more sativa than indica.
I'm really glad I'm not the only one

I'll look into Rishi Kush too, I think I passed it up because they said it had a low thc count but if you're happy with it I might give it a try

thanks again and have a good holiday on 420

One of the things that happened with black market weed & high priced OTC weed was that potency became king. Shit's expensive, you know? Everybody wants their money's worth, and rightfully so. Way back when, the good stuff stayed in your stash longer, too, a good thing when a drought hit.

Growing my own means that I can get beyond that, find the nuances in taste, aroma & effect. Once I got past upfront costs it's actually pretty inexpensive & I'll never run out. Rishi isn't the strongest I ever smoked by a long ways but it's tasty, has enough punch to be quite enjoyable & doesn't turn unwary participants into wall flowers, something that can be a problem with very potent stuff. It also has a really nice easy going laid back sociable effect. Good for laughs & conversation. We always keep some on hand.

tell me about it - weed has gotten super expensive - especially in the north-east - we're paying $50 - $55 for an eighth of average weed and the medical dispensaries are an even bigger let down, that's why I went back to growing and when I get some keepers I plan to help other patients by having quality for half the price as a dispensary

next time I pick up seeds I'll have to add the Rishi-Kush 'cause I'm big on flavor I mean if I have a super potent strain that doesn't taste good - it's worthless to me
PLUS I really enjoy a happy high like bubble-gum and bubba-kush had great highs

On a side note I'm kinda surprised to get all these replies - I think it is time to get out of "retirement", get a camera and, start some journals again

Thanks again about the info on Rishi-Kush,'cause I do like Mandala's seeds - it was just this round was a let down with the Fruitylicious but I did find a Satori mom out of this past grow

Didn't give the Krystalica enough of a chance to know. I have a Satori pheno that I love and have been growing for several years. Perfect high, IMO. Krystalica high was similar, but not quite as good and a low yielder. Didn't earn a spot, but I would have considered it an exceptional high, if I didn't already have the Satori.

The one I'm really impressed with and seldom see mentioned is Beyond the Brain. Think I popped 5 to find this one. The high is a little too strong for me, but my GF loves it. Plant is a beast. Yields at least twice as much as my Satori. Before I started scrogging it, I'd prune it to get 8 or so stems and they'd all crash into the 8 foot ceilings. I'm mono-cropping it for the first time right now and am discovering it has very different needs than the Satori that's gotten all of my attention in the past. Going to be very interesting to see what it can do. Amazing vigor.
