These new smart meters kinda scare me, tbh. The way I see it, I have already been manually opening and closing my propane torch every twelve hours for years on end. I have always had problems staying asleep for any longer than 20 minutes at a time so... over sleeping isn't really a thing for me.

There are a million and one reasons this isn't the soundest idea, and a ton of logistical obstacles. I hear that loud and clear. Impeccable timing and light proofing are paramount. I've learned all that the hard way, first hand. However I've seen people talking about this style of manual flip flopping being the "way of the future" with everything becoming digital and monitored. While I don't have my foil hat on quite yet, I still think that this would be a nice project to take on if not for the sake of unfounded paranoia, then purely as a learning experience. Something to tinker with. Throw some money at. Fail at a few times. Eventually throw in the burn pile. I'm bored.
No problem at all man. I understand this is your way and what works for you. Thats what its all about!

So lets talk space..... What kind of width you working with? Because on the simple side, of not moving ducting and such and no elec spikes at timed events, why not a simple swing arm with the pivot mounted between the rooms?
Barn door tracks are cool to work with also..

I have basically unlimited length and width to work with. My crawlspace is like... 60'x20'x5', which is attached to a 1k square foot basement. Stays nice and cool.

Well, I did see on craigslist in my area, somebody giving away 2 garage door openers, working.

Using the barn door hangers you could build with a shared wall. Blast gate style door can split the light between rooms. Both rooms will require their own ducting with quick release connects on the cool tube setup so when you swap there is no ducting to split sides and both rooms will always have exhaust no matter light location.

Haven't thought much about how to keep light in the "lights on" tent, but by keeping some double channel unistrut mounted to the ceiling joists by some trolleys, and the light suspended on the other end by a couple more trolleys, I could move the light and the strut out of the "lights out" tent altogether allowing for easy closure, and simply slide the light to the opposite end of the strut and push it in the other tent.

If I could mount a couple 8" inline fans accurately enough, exhausting out either end 24/7 into a return vent, I might be able to find a couple fittings that would accept the 8" cooltube without struggle, if the fan itself wont snuggly and easily accept it. Otherwise some large rubber hose clamps might be in order.

I know I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but.. again any input, positive, negative, inflammatory.. all is welcome.

24 7 365 at home? I would buy an extra set of lights and get a social life thrown in with the deal!

some sort of flap, like a dog door, might keep the light out after the cool tube enters the tent.

My social life comes to me. I've travelled a million miles and met a million faces. I don't yearn to be out anymore. I'm an old retired boy. I do my athletic stuffs early early early in the am and then I'm home home to slumber and feed. I like to be home to protect my assets. No one has ever had the courage to rob me while I was home, but if I turn my back to grab a pack of cigarettes at the wrong time of day, I'll come home 10 min later to find all my shit missing. I live in a nice neighborhood, but there are fucking crack fiends on one of the block, and dopeheads on the other. Repeat offenders over the last 20 years, I'm sure, but like I said, never while anybody was home.
