Ive read about doing so when you start with blocks, but i just picked up Roots organic soiless mix. Forgive me for asking a question again. But I am looking for a answer to my specific situation. And I really don't want any gnats. Thanks in advanced.

Yes, no gnats is worth the paltry effort of prepping the coco.

Thanks for replying, I boiled it. Worked out well, to dump the water at I just ratchet strapped a length of windowscreen to the garbage pail I let it steep in. Worked like a charm. Another question I am running emerald harvest Cali I am precharging with 1/4 nutes and cal mag, the is a root supplement from emerald harvest, so my question is should I put that into the precharging solution as well?

I use a powder bennie mixed in plain water and apply that before I water with nute solution in my potted plants. Some say its best method to keep the nute solution application separate from other additions.
