36 hours of dark to start flowering ?

I've been reading on people putting their plants in complete dark for 36 hours before flowering. Does anyone have any advice on this? are there any benefits to this? Thanks

I see zero benefits of doing that. Seems plants in natural outdoors start stretch at 14:20 sun up not daylight. If sun up is not 14:20 or less and there is no light deprivation, i can only see problems. If using light dep i know of no benefit of a 3 day night. Son't believe it will speed the stretch period and only suspends photosynthesis.

I've heard of 24 hour dark cycle before flowering indoors... not sure how the outcome would be outdoors.

Although if the plants are already close to clicking over outdoors. Coving them for 36 hours might be enough to kick them over. It's best if you know the strain and roughly when they start to flower in your climate.

Photoperiod plants do create flowering inhibitors when the sun is present. Plant maturity also has adds a variable.

I have read a few threads about later planting after the solstice has quicker flowering due to the days getting shorter instead of longer. By the time the plants are at sexual maturity they apparently kick over quicker.

Someone here will have more experience on the topic.

Just send them into flowering.

No need to do 36 hour break.
