DJ STRAINS - I.B.L. ?

Aren't dj's strains like f4's or f5's so they should be pretty consistant right ? I myself am interested in the original FLO, BB and BM . Also doesn't the old BB have more indica in it than the new TBB and where does GK & O.T.MOONSHINE fall on the sat./ind. %'s ? THANKS

DJ's strains are F5's, however there is still some variation as DJ uses forward crosses instead of backcrosses. The only real difference is yield, for the most part. GK leans more towards the Indica side of things and OT Moonshine leans even more towards the Indica side of the spectrum.

I thought the f4s/f5s he used were, although breed for specific traits, fairly poor parents with almost completly unpredictable progeny?? Maybe I'm off.. I know some of his strains have been used in other breeding projects, but Ive also heard a lot of people say you need to dig through the whole batch to find your diamond.

Ive never heard of anyone having to go through mulitple packs to get a keeper pheno, not saying your wrong, juts that Ive never heard it. A freind of m ine had 1 pack and got 2 keepers, 1 more indica and the other more sativa. From what I have read (grow/smoke reports, breeder info etc.) you will almost definately find at least one keeper from your 10 pack.As for the parent stock, DJ used highland thai, afghan varieties and other P1 parents. If those are poor parents then I must have been mislead. Hard to work with as he said, but not poor by any means.

No.. i'm not saying you need multiple packs.. i've just usually heard people finding one, maybe two really nice phenos that stand out.. its known that some mutate, which is where a lot of the beauty lies, its just that its hard to be 100% stable and also produce the results dj is striving for.. i've seen some magnificent plants from dj short.. and i've never grown out any yet myself, though I plan too.. i've just heard that if you get a 10 pack, the best bet is to look for a good mother plant, rather than trying to grow them all out equally..

edit: basically, just saying from what i hear (not direct experience) they are not uniform.. you will see much more varieties, which is the point.. you get 10 seeds, and if you get a good mom, you've got what you paid for..

oh I see what you are trying to say kief, please excuse the misuderstanding. I do agree then that Dj's strains are vary pheno dependant if you will. I would also agree that finding a mother is the way to go.

DJ's genetics are some of the strongest most stable for breeding purposes..
You do not have to dig through a bunch to find excellent specimens....
The Dutch Passion version of his genetics are also quite nice although you may have to grow a few more to find the "one".....
