25 gallons of coco in a tub, got rainwater in it. How to treat?
Hey guys,
So I had about 25 gallons of canna coco in a large tote. Its the canna coco bricks, I rehydrated them with 5.8 ph .6 EC water (cana bricks dont require flushing). I did my transplanting, and had a bunch of left over already moistened coco. I left the tub outside, and it rained and now I'm not sure how to retreat the coco for another round of transplants. I've never done a slurry test, but can I use RO water? Or do I need to buy some distilled water? And I'm finding mixed results on the ratios for the slurry test. Is it 1:1, 1:5, 1:2, 1:5?? I'm going to buy a jug of distilled, and try the 1:1 and 1:2 ratio. If the coco seems to be in the right PH and EC range, i'll go ahead and transplant in it. If the coco is too high in ph, how would I go about lowering the PH of a thoroughly wet batch of coco? Im guessing, I squeeze some of the water out, and dump 5 gallons of 5.6 PH water into the tub, and let it sit for a few hours? Then dump the exra water, and squeeze the excess moisture out? Thanks for any help guys. |

i would just recharge at half strength nutes, maybe add extra cal-mag.

Pour it all in an old pillow case and the water will pass thru while most of the coco solids will remain.
Squeeze all the water away you want out of it or even let it dry.

Do it this way and when your plants look whack from a mag deficiency you'll know what caused it.

So it apparently wasnt that much rain water. I mixed it up, did a slurry test. .7 EC, 6.2 ph. I added 3 gallons of .6 EC 5.6 ph water to it, mixed it up again. Added another brick in it. Looks like its dropped to 5.9 PH, so i think it should be good. The thing i was worrying about qas draining the excess water off, but adding a brick absorbed all the extra liquid.
Thanks for the help gentlemen |

For me on my current grow...I had some like year old coco all dried out in the pots my last harvest was in. Broke it all up in rubbermade totes and dumped a shitload of 5.8 ph...half strength 6/9...5ml cal mag through it...possibly the healthiest looking plants I've ever had. Maybe luck? I dunno but it worked. I never reused coco. Might have to do so in the future
