I have been trying to research the strains I am growing, but have had no luck finding how they like to be fed. I have been growing Original Glue #4 for a couple of years, and it likes very weak feeds. Starting at 300 PPM, and never going over 600 - 650 PPM. I am sure some of these are going to be heavy feeders.

If anyone has advice on these strains feeding needs, please let me know -

GG4 X Long Bottom Leaf
DedHead X Long Bottom Leaf
Dirty Margarita
Bubba Kush X Bubba Kush
Kosher Kush
Skywalker Kush
Desfran
Purple Afghan Kush
Truthband
Headband
Sleestack

I've noticed that if the roots don't fill the pot quickly or if the roots are skinnier and more silky than thick white, you can determine light feeders from heavy. I feed the light ones the same ppm but usually as soon as a pinch of runoff hits I stop, while the heavy feeders get copious amounts of runoff no sweat.

Different roots like different amounts of water I guess, still learning!

I thought PPM and feeding frequency were the factors that were altered for light/heavy feeders. Did not realize the amount of runoff would make a difference.

hey you might be right Old toker, might make a seperate bucket next time and try less ppms.

I always notice the runoff on my OGKB(original and 2.0), Fire OG, GG4 & bubba kush to be really fast when handwatering.(thinner/slower growing root systems)

now the tangie, sky lotus, cherry pie, & soul mate have thick, fast growing roots. once the roots hit the side of the pot on these strains, Its tough to overwater and mess them up.

the other strains can easily get waterlogged in coco early on because the roots are not as tough or strong to handle that much water at once, which is why the idea of giving them less water at once made sense to me.

Hey man.......before you take any advice/suggestions from me you should know that while I am an Old Toker.....I am a new coco grower. Just starting (22 days since germ) my FIRST indoor grow. You would be well advised to run any of my ideas past some of these guys with tons of experience. Just sayin...

Got ya, wouldnt hurt to test it though! I know those strains(og/cookie) exibit purple stems and Ive been wanting to mix a seperate bucket and add a dash of epsom salts to see if they green up.

Its possible they are more waterlogged than the other varietys(due to smaller root size) which may cause the purple stems, but TBH I think its the ratio of nutes.

The tangie & cherry pie are greener than ever! so are the mojority of seeds I pop.

Ive been told before that OGs/chems/cookie cuts enjoy more calmag but I hate that shit and think its evil lmao

I will try the epsom salts and get back to you about the purple stems on these specific strains...

I am attempting to grow 4 different strains (2ea). I'm planning on gradually increasing the PPMs as they develop. Eventually multiple daily feedings. First sign any of them shows ANY nute burn I'll just back it down to whatever PPM / feeding frequency they were last healthy. At least that's my plan. I'm just hoping that all 8 plants can agree on the same PPM. Otherwise I'm going to be chasing my ass.

Good luck man!
