sm-90, h202, nematodes, bt.... gnats
hey all,
i'm still dealing with gnats. my last round of treatment consisted of 1:4 ratio of %3 h202 with feed and sm-90. i have sticky traps all over, but amm now just thinking maybe need to focus traps on roots... i would like to move to biological controls. i have BMC microbe-lift and have used it but probably not long enough now that i have learned how it works so i want to give it a try again, i also think i might just get a pack of nematodes. will sm-90 kill nematodes? bt? will bt harm nematodes? should i start with a hard flush or just transition? im just trying to figure out what i can use in conjunction, any help is totally appreciated. hope you all are having a good one ![]() -cheers *** straight coco DTW hydro nutes |

FWIW, neem oil foliar, SM-90 every feeding, and a layer of floor dry worked for my fungus gnat troubles. I still keep up with the SM-90, stuff smells so good.

It will take a while for the problem to subside,
so keep your process in place well beyond the absence of flyers. I boil my coco, no gnats for a long time now. SM 90 is good stuff. A mild bleach wash is helpful too. Afterwords you'll need to add back any mycorrhizal fungi, trichoderma bennies, natch.

Ironic this post came up... i had no issues with gnats whatsoever my whole grow so far. Soaked and inoculated brinks with sm90 from the start and fed 3ml a gallon at start then upped to 5ml. Ran out of sm90 and after about 10 days with none in the rez or medium, boom. Little shits popped up a few days ago. So back on the sm90 and neem.

I've been meaning to try bricks anyways, if I expand it with 200f water that should do the trick..... expand brick, soak in calmag, chuck some og biowar or something on it and be good to go. And: bleach? How does that work? I'm pretty much afraid using it but that's just prejudice, any advantages over using h2o2? |

One has no control over that which is supplied to you. Test it, scope it. Although you may bring in critters on your clothes from outside areas, or have critters in your house plants. I use Sunleaves brick. I rinse the expanded coco to 0.5 EC and then use a rice cooker to boil it for 5-7 minutes. It’s then dried and sifted thru a coarse steel mesh and bagged up for future use. At that time I boil it again, chill it down and charge it for growing. Dust in a coco mix make for a tight boggy substrate, not good. I use the coco dust in my soil mix for outdoor plants. Quote:
Bleach works well. 0.4 mL bleach per gal, first application. 0.2 ml bleach per gal every other day, There is as usual much debate on H2O2 and bleach, I have tried both and bleach in the doses I posted take out just about anything but the roots, hense the re application of mycorrhizal fungi, trichoderma bennies suitable for coco and salts.

thanks for the info!
so if i were to treat with bleach is that a few times kind of deal or do plants actually tolerate it? I'm not so sure how harmless H2O2 is to plants either, not like alot of people seem to say, i have no idea how it interacts with the medium either. i stopped doing the 1:4 ratio because everything was turning rust colored..... uhhh anyhoo, thanks again, all you guys that take the time -cheers |
