The suspense is nearly unbearable! This is a high stakes game and now a newby threatens to join the chase for the crown!

Sforza!, about layla plant!

maybe cutting the container midway around with a razor blade, and then putting the rootball, with container top and plant in DRY fresh soil,

for a day or two or three, untill it drains,

then cram it back into the bottom container half once it's healthy,

and put electrical tape over it after wrapping the seam with PTFE teflon plumbers tape. and make a cross pattern cradle with the electrical tape for structural stability maybe.

also, i like to use aluminum foil to make pot cover slips, (heavy duty makes it reusable, when re-using containers)
so the roots can get to the walls without being affected by light, AND, so that they don't get algea.

Thanks for the tips, earthwyrms. I agree that only massive intervention is going to save that plant. I have pretty much written it off. I did use an utility knife to cut some lines in the plastic to help it breath, but it was too little too late. Cutting the entire pot open and doing the equivalent of open heart surgery is probably its only chance at this point.

While it is silly to go to such lengths to save such a sick plant, the entire concept of making it harder on yourself to grow a plant by growing it in a small container is silly, so in for a penny in for a pound. I will give it a shot and we shall see if the plant is able to respond.
