Pretty sad stuff... Really cool dude with a TON of knowledge and passion about this plant. Loved watching them travel all over the place and hearing the stories.

Our brother Franco will be deeply missed. Me and him used to hang out here in the days of Capt. Kript, Rezdog and all those other characters, right after over grow went down.
Franco was in Congo a lot. There is no real vaccine for Malaria. The only vaccine that exists was only recently approved in 2015. More info on wikipedia. other than that you can take anti malaria tablets. Unfortunately because of Franco's frequent visits to the Congo, he couldn't take those tablets continuously, that was his choice, because they make you feel sick. On the last trip he took there he was more worried about getting shot or arrested at checkpoints than about a little mosquito. Unfortunately a whole bunch of circumstances led to him being extremely unlucky. It was cerebral malaria which took his life. He leaves behind a large family and 2 little boys. I am born in Africa myself and I survived cerebral malaria when I was 7 years old, I consider myself very lucky. The Strain Hunters Foundation has setup a fund, that holds donations that will be used to finance Franco's children's education and the costs that brings with us. Parallel to the fund, there are other initiatives to help his children. Anything sold in the future by Green House or Strain Hunters using Franco's name or persona, will be donated to the fund. So if you see anyone using Franco's name commercially, we would appreciate you letting us know, so that we can make sure this is done with the permission of the foundation.
