POG x HK from Breeder's Retail

Hello everyone. I hope all of you are off to a happy healthy new year!

I’m sure off to an exciting start: I was offered the incredible opportunity to receive a pack of POG x HK from Breeder’s Retail to grow and document. My experience with Breeder’s Retail was top-notch. Very timely communications; fast and securely packaged shipping. Big big thanks to all involved who made this happen.

Not much to see yet... but what can I say, I wanted to get started because I am so excited! Four of the five popped and have broken ground. I hope the fifth is just being stubborn. The two pale riders are fresh out of surgery - within four hours. One I removed her shell and the other the sheath over the cotyledons — wish us a speedy recovery!

I grew POG from FD years ago. It is a run I remember fondly. Really looking forward to this.

As of now, it’s my hope to update every other Sunday once things really get rolling.

Happy growing to all!

I've still got some 10 year old POG beans in my vault. POG was well received by all who tried her caramelly goodness.

I'll definitely be watching your grow Shmavis.

Great stuff..

Classic old skool flavours me thinks. I never tried or grew Pot of Gold but have heard a few say it was some nice dependable smoke. I wonder how many POG Sam went through to select that one special POG mother.. Then to reverse it to the original Hindu Kush mother of the first cross. Was he just trying to preserve the HK mother in fem form do you think? Maybe the POG mother he selected is HK dominant?

Hopefully quite a few questions might be answered by this grow.. Good luck with it Shmavis

Have very fond memories of POG... One of the first freebies I ever recieved from seedsdirect, amd I remember this one plant I got was pure heaven... Rock hard stinky sticky nugs on a squat bushy plant... No pics unfortunately, was like '02, '03, somewhere round there. Will be watching this one, good luck Shmavis!

Thanks everyone for stopping by with positive vibes.

Those are questions I’m curious about as well, Kal. I’m thinking this offering may be even more heavy and couchlocking than original POG... (?) This creation seems like it’ll result in a reduction of #1’s influence... (?)

I’m after some heavy nighttime meds and hope this fits the bill. I sure enjoyed POG’s couchlocking effects. Always found it to be a great strong and almost euphoric nightcap. And very yummy like MJP mentioned.

This should be fun!

Following, thank you for documenting. I'm popping 100 of these outdoors next year.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I had expected to do an update at transplant, I’m usually at that point around thirty days from seed, but these girls are a bit slower, so a quick status update as of now since they’re going to go at least another week before transplant. They are currently thirty-one days from seed. The fifth bean never popped. Of the remaining four I had two that I was really concerned about, and wasn’t sure they’d make it. Both exhibited deformities, one much more so than the other. The more extreme of those two has finally pulled out of it and is off and running. Yay! The two to the right in the pic are the two that are behind schedule due to having to work out of the deformities.

Also, I can’t say that I’m not responsible for their slow start. My seed starting mix has never caused problems before - in regards to being too hot - but that may’ve been the case this time since all four ended up with their first true set of leaves burnt and slightly misshaped. That said, other babies started in the same batch did not react likewise. Anyway, might be advisable to start in a more inert medium... the stalks on #1 & #2 (first two from the left) are thickening up nicely.

The first one from the left (#1) really brings a smile to my face when I look at her. Truly excited about her.

Hey MZC, thanks for stopping by. Can’t wait to see what you do outdoors this year. I’ll definitely be watching. One hundred of these POG x HK - how cool!

Looks great, excited to see these growing.

I may have this incorrect but looks like a feminised backcross to the P1 Hindu Kush parent which may account for the slower growth rate early on.

Nice work in any case, look forward to seeing your progress.

This post seems relevant to the new POG variety offered here:
