Good morning,

So yesterday I made my first batch of bho gummies and I ran into some problems. The bho did not dissolve all the way so when you eat one you can feel the bho on your teeth. These are the steps I took when I made it:

1pk of Jell-O
4pk of gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
Some strawberry flavoring
3g of bho
Vegetable glycerin

I heated up the Jell-O, gelatin and cold water to a medium heat. I placed the bho in a Pyrex bowl and placed that on top of some hot water on the stove to heat it up so it would melt. I added 1 tablespoon of the vegetable glycerin to the heated bho and tried to combine it. I then added the bho and vegetable glycerin mix to the Jell-O mix, mixed it and then poured into molds and let sit for about 20 mins in the refrigerator.

The gummies came out fine but the bho didn't not seem to dissolve like it should have. Any suggestions?

Maybe try to dissolve the BHO in a little bit of high proof ethanol before adding the glycerin. Even 80 proof vodka should work. You might want to reduce the amount of water a bit as there will be some water in the vodka and depending on how hot the water or gelatin mix is the alcohol should evaporate.

Also, maybe you didn’t get the mix hot enough in the first place.

I'm thinking I didn't heat the shatter and glycerin up high enough. The shatter was still pretty gooey and less like a liquid when I added it to the Jell-O. I was worried about burning the shatter

I wouldn’t worry too much about burning it unless you use high heat, for edibles it needs to be decarbed anyway. Best or easiest to do that in the oven unless you’re using an oil bath on the stove.

Could be another main issue. I never decarbed it. What exactly does decarbing do in edibles? Could not decarbing affect the potency? They didn't seem as strong as I would have thought

I think people use vegetable glycerin to dissolve the bho first with a mixer for gummies. not sure how much.

ya decarbing it changes it into a form that can be used by your body more effectively .. basically. if not decarbed u get like 10%. compared to decarbed getting 80-100%. lol.

decarb always for edibles..

also. decarbed oil mixes better than non..

and I just decarb in my Oven. 260 on my oven gets my oil to 240-250.. 20-30 minutes or until bubbles stop..

seems to work just fine..

Decarbing the BHO will make all the difference. There are so many ways out there, and I am currently doing testing for best methodology. Current process is add to 5G BHO a 1/2tsp coconut oil in a ramekin lined with parchment at 240. I was stirring at first then sealing and and keeping it enclosed with foil. Minimum time for best bioavailability was a minimum of 1 hour. I am testing a new process this weekend and we will be decarbing ice wax, BHO, and flowers. I'll post what happens.
