Good morning GG.
I'm excited about this grow as well. I'm looking forward to having different strains and some variety. I've heard great things about these genetics and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they grow. The quick finish time means I can keep the tent packed and the lights on. I'm really looking forward to trying some stealth outdoor grows next summer with them.

Quick update

Good morning friends.
I hope everyone had a great Holliday weekend and is doing well. 2016 has been a great year for me since it's the year I grew and harvested my first plants. Now I'm on grows 2 and 3 and having a blast. This auto grow is my first without feminized seeds and is a lot more plants than my first two grows.

Not much to report yet the seedlings look happy and healthy. They have been thirsty every 2-3 days. They have been fed a light kelp based nute once so far and seemed to like it. Their defiantly ready for a repot. I'm going shopping for more pots today and will repot in a day or two when the soil is dryish.
Here is a pic of them from Friday.

Hey Fiddynut, good luck with the Autos, I've been giving them a bash for about 7 years or so now. Most of the genetics I've grown are from sweet seeds and Ive had surprising results. Giving your autos a 20 on 4 hour off is supposed to be the best light period for Autos. I also find if you give them good soil with added amendments you can get away without giving any liquid feed. This 2ay they are totally organic. Also I find if you pot them straight into their finale pot they'll grow bigger and quicker. The key with autos is giving them the best start possible as their veg time is very short.
Good luck mate
Peace

Good afternoon Jedi.
Thanks for the tips on autos. I'm interested in organic and no till gardening and might give staying organic a go on this grow. I'll be transplanting into bigger pots with a pretty good soil in a day or two. The new soil should give them all they need for a couple weeks at least and that will give me time to read up on organic growing. I have a couple organic nutes, earth juice grow for veg and budswel for flower so I probably just need to boost my micro herd with some teas.

I started in small cups because I'm not sure how to water a small plant in a big pot. I've always heard it's problematic to have the small plant in big pot and that's why we usual transplant a couple times for photo plants. What are your watering strategies if starting seedlings in big pots?

I hope you had a good Holliday weekend was good and you are well...Fiddy.

Update and pics

Good morning friends.
I was up late last night transplanting the seedlings into their big pots. I used 2 parts ocean forest soil to 1 part happy frog soil plus 1/2 part perlite. I also used mykos in the new soil and some crushed up mosquito dunks on top. I watered them in with some kelp fertilizer. It seems like there's fungus gnats in all the bags of soil but since I've been using the dunks they never get a foot hold and I've never seen more than one flying around the tent for a day or two after using new soil. After a couple days I don't see any and the BT keeps them from coming back.

The seedlings are really starting to take off now. They are getting some good light now that they have some leaves to use as solar panels. The seedlings roots looked great when I popped them out of their old containers. They seem very healthy and happy. I just checked them this morning and all are looking good. I think they are going to like their new pots.

Here is a last shot of them in their first pots.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to fit all of them in the tent so I put the pots in first to see of they should fit. They do but it's tight in there.

Most of the seedlings are on their 3rd of 4th set of leaves.

I haven't grown any autos yet but on the couple photoperiod grows I've done it seems like the plants really take off after their 4th set of leaves develop. From what I've been told autos grow very aggressively so I think these will really get rolling now. They may need a couple days to get use to their new pots but should really get cracking after that. I could probably use a little more light in the tent it it won't be too long and they will switch to the other tent with a lot more light.

Group shot in a very full tent.

Things have been a little slow the first two weeks, as seedlings always seem to be but it should get interesting soon. I'll be updating more often and getting plenty of pictures of them.

I guess that's it for now. I'll do another update in a couple days. Thanks for taking time to check out this grow. Peace...Fiddy.

Happy new year ab.
I'll be watering tonight and will do another update and get some pics. I've found 3 males so far and got rid of them. This is the first time with regular seeds but balls are easy to spot and that part is going well. It's getting a little less crowded in there now.

I had an issue with my other grow that might have an effect on this grow. I had one of my flowering plants hermied on my and I didn't catch it until Friday. The seeds are about full sized and have hard shells on them so it think it happened at least 2-3 weeks ago. I'm not sure how long pollen is active for or how to clean it up. Not sure if the pollen is still floating around and couple pollenate the other girls. Do you have any suggestions about how to deal with this? I haven't read up on this much but will try to find some info. Things are going well and I hope this doesn't mess this grow up. Let me know if you think there is anything I can do at this point. As of today I'm not seeing any female per flowers on these plants yet so maybe they will be fine or at least they probably haven't been affected yet.

Thanks...Fiddy.

Hi Fiddy-
seeds are about full sized and have hard shells on them so it think it happened at least 2-3 weeks ago.It takes a month to 6 weeks for seeds to be "hard" and full sized.

Yes, with autos, males are easy to spot. Stress plays a factor in sex. Typically our selections, given the proper environment, are 60:40 or 75:25 and in some cases (both customers and ourselves) 90:10 F:M ratio.. Love the 90:10 but it's always when we are looking for that nice stud...fewer to choose from...not complaining, though.

Generally you'll see the males before females. Once you see autos growing, you can eye ball what is male and female at a glance. Since you've seen no prepubescent females, you are probably in the clear.

Have heard reports of pollen staying viable for a while....the actual answer varies whom you talk to. Clean any filters/fans. Wipe the walls down with at least soap and water or diluted bleach if you want to be certain its gone. It only takes a very tiny amount of pollen to create hundreds of seeds but I doubt that pollen residue in your room would pollinate buds enough to ruin a crop, but better safe than sorry.

Watering....when you can stick your finger and have approx. 2" dry soil on top, it's time to water, but not water log. Many newbies overwater and over fertilize autos which decreases yield due to stress. We pick up pots determining how heavy they are (indoors). If light, water. Once it goes into mid-cycle budding to harvest, you'll see the need to water (daily or every other day) more with transpiration uptake.

Too, it depends how warm your area is, air circulation and light source regarding how often you water. HID lamps are hotter thereby drying out soil quicker than T tubes, CFL's and LEDs. In a warm environment pots will dry out quicker, with fan circulating air, same.

Hope that helps! Sounds like you are doing a great job! Yay!

Good morning ab.
Thanks for the tips on cleaning up the pollen and watering. Also thanks for your opinion on how old the seeds are. That tells me that these seeds weren't even planted when most of the pollen was floating around even at the low end of 4 weeks. I'll do a wipe down of tent and equipment before putting the plants in. I think I have 1 more male for a total of 4 and I got some pics last night while watering. I'll put up an update today.
