Can't get into chat for some reason. The chat screen just doesn't load.

use firefox. go to the chatroom. click on the lock at the left of the address bar. it will give you the option to suspend security for the chatroom do that and reload the page.

Pretty sure I shouldn't be needing to do that to get into chat.

It works, you just have to trick your computer into letting you in. Ghetto flashchat from 1998.
