when to chop..
Just wondering how you all would handle this. If you check a leaf hanging off a bud for trich color, and see about 5-10% amber, 65-75% cloudy, 15% clear, would you take it down?
Now what if the bud itself shows completely different coloration in trichs? Like the leaf showed those numbers, and the bud shows no amber and all cloudy/clear. I always thought it happened equaly in the same areas. But that doesnt seem to be true. |

I would only worry about the color of the trichs on the buds, since that is what you smoke and not the leaves. I like to wait until the are 30 % amber. what strain is it?

thanks Rez
purple, its a diesel, was at 66 days and thought it was ready since I seen 10% amber on the piece I cut to check. But after it was half down I checked the inner part of the bud and didnt see any amber. That mean Im screwed or can it fix up in cure? |

Sometimes shit happens and things need to come down.. Can a good cure fix an early choppin? And by early I mean a week early, maybe 1.5 at most. |

maybe this will help:
100% Clear is week quick head high and will not last long. 100% Cloudy is heavy stone and will last longer (start of peak harvest) 80%/20% Cloudy/Amber is pure peak harvest heaver head and couch lock stone will not last as long as 100% cloudy but is stronger. Anywhere in between is fine and up to you. Amber Trichomes are dead or dieing. If you pick at 100% amber then you have past prime and the quality of the effect is degraded. |

i read somewhere that trichomes continue to "turn" from clear/cloudy/amber after you pull it off the plant, did i get some misinformation or is that the case? right now my trichs are mostly clear with some cloudy 'nucleus' so to speak developing inside them. i've only read that once though, so i would assume that's not the case.
