raven44 will become famous soon enough
There are forums where u can obtain cultures on trade easy.

I have a wild Turkey tail clone I took and have stored in master slant.

Should be easy to get waxy

A home made glove box or a flow hood to form a home lab if u will works fine really just depends on the scale u want to be at

welcome mojave

the flow hood sounds better in the long run,

I never realized how many people are afraid of mushrooms.

I tried helping 3 people with cancer, my uncle with arthritis, and a few others...

ALL afraid to consume any form of fungi(even tinctures!)

mycophobia is very very real!

which ones are said to do anything for arthritis?

I may try some soil spore and straw bale inoculation next year for fun

Found lots of good ones over the years but never grown any.

I think the chinese believe turkey tails cure some cancers. I like chewing on them like gum in the woods. The false ones are supposed to be just as good...they have the spiky looking underside.

Mycophobia is real but I suppose it's for good reason. I picked gallerina marginatus once and took it home for identification on the shroomery. Got flamed so hard it wasn't even funny. Now I know not to even bother picking those ones. I almost got fooled by angels wings once. They can look like oysters to the untrained eye and kill the ill/elderly who make that mistake. Mushrooms are cool as fuck and now I'm subbed to yer thread.

welcome tess, look into reishi's(capsules) for arthritis, backed by vitamin c. if it hurts more than usual in the first week that means its working, keep going(Ill try to find the link on shroomery where I found that)

whats cool about most of the mycobags is that you can make some killer soil to grow with after your done

I have yet to chew on polypores, but soon!

I have yet to encounter dangerous ones, but my girl had a crazy reaction to some raw honey we found at the same market. thought it was the oysters at first!

Maitake is supposed to be very good for inflammation. But so is Reishi and Shiitake. I used to tell people at the farmers markets, when they asked about medicinal mushrooms, "Look, you already know mushrooms have big Juju. Take a bite of one kind and you die. Take a bite of another and you trip away for hours in another dimension. It only makes sense that mushrooms have compounds in them that are crazy concentrated."

It has been 15 years since I was a grower so things could have drastically changed. When I was setting up the internet was just getting going. Information was hard to come by. Now its everywhere. If Fungi Perfecti is still around they will have cultures for pretty much everything available. If I remember correctly their cultures came in test tubes. Other places will send you a plate. Don't order your cultures until you are ready. That outfit I mentioned Mushroompeople, they had the best prices, lots of gear, and they are associated with "The Farm" in Tennessee, which some of you might know about, and I was happy to support with my business. The west coast is littered with mushroom growers. I did a tour in Oregon once and went to 6 or 7 farms and learned some good shit and met some great folks. Go visit a mushroom farm, but call first.

I think that once you set up a cute little clean room and figure out a place to fruit you will be surprised at how easy it is and you will be rewarded. That will be the trap that makes you think you could get bigger, spend some more money and maybe start a small business. I would resist that and just be proud that you have mastered another skill and you have added another arrow in your quiver of self sufficiency.

whaaaa you mean ashin? now worries man, I've been too lazy about my fungi knowledge.

post away and keep the questions coming.

still looking for a new spot and don't wanna start anything in this stupid rental.

been talking my mushroom dude Vince @ eastern market about the locations of all the rooms and Im pretty sure Ill setup the lab in the basement and the incubation/fruiting chamber in the garage outside. he mentioned something out getting them out of the incubation room quick to avoid pinning...

I picked up some turkey tail tinctures, king oysters, shittakes, maitakes & white elms. going to be a solid start to this year.

been looking over my old notes as well, lots of good stuff for us midwest guys at this site:

https://www.midwestmycology.org/Mushr...m%20Study.html

I will be taking the exam next october. I wanted to this year but did not feel prepared for the poisons and wanted to learn more.

---

on a side note my buddy gave me 3 cuts of gg4 which I am super excited to try

---

Happy New Years ICMAG Family!
