Official Jack crosses documentation thread. Finished pics of plants and dry product.

So what are you guys seeing the Jack bringing to the table in these crosses? Especially the smell.

All I currently could afford and will grow out and show in this thread:

5 packs of CHS The Medina
4 packs of CHS King x Jack
4 packs of CHS White Lotus x Jack

I generally like to grow out 30-50 seeds of things that really interest me so this should be sufficient for my purposes of exploration.

Seeds I wish I had that I missed out on or are not released yet:

Grapefruit x Jack
Blockhead x Jack
bubba x jack
Mountain Jam #2 regular (Soulshine X Jack)
silver taco x jack

And yes in that particular order. Dreaming though heh.

The Jack Herrer line has morphed since it was first released, and the huge variation comes presumably from the poly-hybrid nature of the top cross which became 'Jack Herrer'; it has been bred and grown by many different hands each putting their own spin on the line. Like I said above, to me 'Jack Herrer' is a line almost pure in terpinolene with very few other terps adding the flavour and scent, and this gives a uniquely 'dutch' quality to the nose... its a smell I associate with walking around between the Damrak, Singel, Lilegracht and Bloemgracht, from De Nieuw Kerk area just north of Dam Square westward to the BloemMarkt near the Anne Frank Huis. To me it just typifies dutch cannabis.

This line I call "Jack", is obviously a little different due the the NL influence that we infused back around '96. I recently tested a batch of old GFxNL seeds (half siblings using the same NL pollen inputs) that we ran through the grow and analytical lab, and I was amazed that such a cross could have such a uniform terpene profile/ finger print between siblings given how the GF throws such variance in a backcross population. Give or take a small degree of variance with respective terpene levels, the overall fingerprints of the siblings were almost identical- the chemist hadn't seen such uniform profiles from any other crosses to date. This was the result of the extremely true breeding nature of the NL that was used in all of the above crosses, including being the pollen input for the line I call 'Jack'.

Overall, as a plant, if I were to make a comparison... it would be in the same family of plants that as a class include C99. That mostly terpinolene and myrcene profile, with the little limonene spike and about equal levels of alpha and beta pinene gives a citrusy nose that some describe as grapefruit and others associate with pineapple - in fact one of the names the jack got in our group locally is PineappleJack.

The almost total lack of sesquiterps (beta caryophyllene and humulene mainly) really takes out any spicy or woody component and leaves a nose that to most, land squarely in "fruity". It's a clear, non-muddy experience that allows you to keep functioning, and the entourage keeps the clear-minded and functional perspective. On her own, I find the plants to be day-time smokes, and are easily tolerated by people that don't smoke as often as some of us. They are very easy growing plants on their own, and the only real drawback from them for some is their slightly less rigid stems that can become especially floppy in low light conditions, or if you don't have sufficient wind to strengthen the branches.

I'm not trying to confuse anyone with the name 'Jack', but this line is really no longer what I typify as 'Jack Herrer'. It's shifted into it's own family for sure, and doesn't fit the variety profile or terpenotype of the original. I can tell you though, that grown right, this one is productive and has irie vibes, bringing positive thought and open-minded expansion of thought.... its not dumb you down, flog you mentally cannabis. For inexperienced growers that can keep a good solid environment, this makes an excellent hybrid plant that tolerates abuse and will power through most f-ups. They tend to come in on the early side of approximately 8 weeks, which is what I consider the absolute earliest cannabis should ever be harvested. We've had a few limited reviews so far, but I know what these plants can do and I'm looking forward to seeing how these perform across a range of gardens; I know we're going to see some impressive results from Jack while they last.

Are you guys getting fruity notes in these crosses as described? Are you guys finding it mostly dominant, even mix, or in the background? Very curious how this line is imparting it self on others and what public at large thinks. From reading it sounds awesome.

Hey 40. I'm not sure what they're seeing in their crosses. In the Jack crosses that I've seen the Jack is very much fruity, citrus, and sharp smelling. If that makes any sense. Kind of how a lemon is sharp when you zest it. It may be from the NL line if that's truly part of the jack lineage.

I ran some SFV X NL from Cannaventure, and was initially surprised to find a citrus profile in them. However when I spoke to Stoney, he said that the citrus was common in the NL. I used some of those males to hit the OGKB, but I haven't tested it yet. Would be interesting to see how common or dominant that citrus profile is.

Sounds great. I will be growing quite a bit of the jack crosses so I want to try to compile mine and everyone else experience with these lines here. I am just fuckin amazed there were any left on SBAY. I had a really serious issue with mother nature not long ago and took a pretty hard hit to the wallet but when I saw the sale I missed and there were still some packs left I had to take the dive...I can't believe people are sleeping on these especially the white lotus, medina, and king crosses...unbelievable. People are really gonna regret this when they see me grow a lot of these out.

I grew out five seeds of the Melodius Funk, I got 4 females an 1 runt that got binned for lack of vigor. Of the 4 females 2 auto flowered when rootbound, one of those auto's were a very narrow leaf pheno (guessing it was jack leaning), I was very excited about this plant until the auto. But the other 2 that did not auto were more medium to wide leaf , had fruity dank smells. All of the plants had a columnar growth that would be well suited for a SOG. The high was a long lasting mellow high. I could pretty much do anything after smoking Melodius Funk, wake n bake, change brakes, watch a flix, take a nap, you get the picture. I am going to pop the next five next year but on deck for me soon is another jack cross cbd lullaby .

I had the 2 Melodius Funk in a 4x4 tent with a 1k hps grown in hempy coco buckets fed with floranova bloom, floralicious plus,an koolbloom powder. I know all the BS with GH but I am hard of seeing an dealing with meters are a little tedious unless someone knows of a organic nute for coco with buffers that does not require meter testing I would appreciate a suggestion. I went from recycling soil organically for 10 years to this current regime. Sorry for the ramble . I like the jack crosses so far.

Good to hear you like them for the most part but question here. By autoflower you mean you had full on budding occurring under 24hr lights on? Not just preflowers?

Hm from the Jack crosses so far finished the recurring common traits are orange, clementine, mandarine smells, large floral clusters, medium density, at least medium trich count. Fast flowering, no nutrient hogs, and still not nutrient sensitive. Trouble free. (These are the traits I attribute to the Jack) Had a strange flowering plant but then realised it was another line, not from Chimera that was mislabeled. So as mentioned, trouble free. Compared to the blue lines you probably get a stable hassle free cross/plant but the freak, stand out plant, connoisseur high with super resin coverage is going to show up in the blue lines. But neither lines are stinkers in my opinion. I couldn't recommend one over the other except in one area. And that is in general growth. The Jack line is going to make any grower look like a pro.

One day I went into my veg area (under 24 hours of 6 T5 floros) and there were white hairs at all budding sites top to bottom, 2-3 pairs per site. I think it was because of being rootbound. I stress my plants on purpose to se if there vigorous. I do not have the time or patience with my sight problem to have plants that auto, just my preference. Others might not have problems. I should have just up potted an give her a little more nitrogen to stop it but I had limited space. That narrow leaf plant still makes me think "what if", oh well. Sorry, no pics. Btw they were dense, a little give to them but I think that was from the Melody Kush side. Finished in 8 weeks with no problems on the 2 I flowered out. All were quick cloners as well.

Hi 40Amps. From my experience with the jack line I can say that the overall flavor profile is fruity. It generally let's the mother plant shine in most crosses I've run but I think the jack structure tends to dominate. Putting this line in corner of the grow room brought on the floppy stems from lower light. The jack dominant plants do need direct light for jack to flourish. I switched back to T5 from led in veg just on the jack side because they seemed to do better. Some girls will start blooming prematurely if they are root bound but I started using fabric pots combined with T5's and they act like any other. In flower they shoot up with very good bud site formation and I would say above average bud site frequency. Plants have buds just about everywhere usually all the way down. While not as big obviously, the buds resin content is respectable. That brings me to potency. She ranges from low mid to high with most in between. My strongest jack plant is a melodious funk that will melt your face after just three months in a jar. I really like this line because the consistency is very good in taste, appeal, and most importantly effect. He has some weaknesses for sure but overall jack seems to check the right boxes. I'm currently running three different jack strains regularly because they are just simply good to smoke. No doubt you will find something enjoyable....good luck.
