the OP's statement is confused in itself. not trying to offend but...???? What?

crossing = take a male and a female, usually of different varieties, similar or different, and make seeds.
the act of crossing produces plants that express themselves differently or similarily. The different expressions found as a result of a cross are to be considered the phenotype expressions of the cross.
the cross is not the phenotype.... as in I am going to take hashplant A and "phenotype" it to Blueberry plant B...... that is incorrect and a missuse of the word phenotype.

a cross is a cross..... if you don't like the word cross..... call it mating or copulating or ????
but phenotype is not the word yer looking for son.
