What was the reason mom and pops opened up business' of any kind ?

Whether hardware, bookstores, local food markets, etc ?

Nothing wrong with a bit of commerce.

But due to the real greedy people ala Jeff Bezos, so many mom and pops have been forced to close their doors. . .

Jeff Bezos and his Amazon, Whole Foods( recently acquired ) and Washington Post empire, has nearly completed his stranglehold on the marketplace.

Dont forget who proposed Prop 64 AUMA stuff. . .

Who was that, FaceBook or Google comrade ?

& over regulation, unions, mafia etc have all worked against the little guy for centuries ....

the guy selling books/hammers purchased wholesale.

computers overran the printing industry in the 90's as a magazine produced by 25 people, drum scans, litho can now be produced by one person with illustrator / photoshop ....

its been happening for centuries in every country.

money , power, greed .....

just pointing out this industry is the exact same construct. look toward the b.s stories / hype thats driven/unfolded in this industry across these forums.

Problem is when government gets involved there are so many back room deals to swing it to big donors favor, shit isn't even funny.

Uber, seems similar to Bitcoin, in that it seems to go around the system, beyond it.

Yeah, in Nevada the legalization bill forbids anyone from growing cannabis plants within 25 miles of a dispensary. So the only people still allowed to grow their own are those who live in the middle of the fucking desert, basically. If you live in Vegas, Reno, or any other big city you cannot grow pot. Period.

I hated that aspect of it & do find it quite unfair, but at the same time there is no justification for locking people up or fining them huge amounts for a plant. Legalization may not benefit commercial black market growers but it benefits society in virtually every other way: more space in prison for actual criminals, fewer peaceful potheads in jail, less risk of adulteration of the product, tax revenue for schools & states, less cartel & gang violence, less sub-par schwag being passed off as something it's not (there are still dealers who add lemon peels to their product to make it smell like "Lemon Haze" when really all that does is cause mold problems), etc.

So legalization is GREAT for consumers. No more Mexican brick...even in illegal states like where I live. Not all of us can grow dankity dank weed for our own use, nor does everyone have the money or know-how to do it. At worst, caregivers or small-time growers will just have to revert to being more stealthy if the laws in their state forbid growing. That's how it's been done for most of recent history anyway--illegally.

Everything in capitalist America is a business that's all about the $$$. That doesn't necessarily make it all bad. As long as Monsanto doesn't come in with some GMO bud that's patented & starts suing growers when their genetics show up in farmers' crops, I see no major issues.

You have got to be kidding.

That is a law that is begging to be broken.

That's not legalization, that's a monopoly enforced at gun-point.

uber is something i do not use, like walmart, and for the same reason. shopping local makes sense to me.
Corrupt cannabis laws suck was just reading about some sob who managed to slip in a requirement for use of armored trucks to transport product.
We got cursed with jackasses that could only dream of integrity never having seen any before.

Anyone who doesn't think that government will totally fuck this up is dreaming. All the licenses will go to the donor class. All the profits will go to Wall Street. All the tax money will be stolen by the politicians long before it goes towards whatever lie they told when they said the tax money would help "the children" , or"'the homeless", or whatever. And the people will still face prison because the black market will be attractive due to taxes and fixed costs throughout the cycle, from producer to consumer. And now you are competing directly against the government, a legal cartel, which will "own" the process. If you don't think they will be even worse once all the "rules" get written and implemented then you need to think harder.

And now so many growers are registered to authorities from the old medical program. If you are one of the old timers who said from the start he was just gonna stay underground to me you look pretty smart right now.

The model that worked was the medical with the generous rules you had. Maine had a very generous medical program that was easy to work with. They got fucked also and are starting the exact same route as Cal with legalization. Big money insiders start it off and the rules get written so only they can win. Sorry guys. It's a shame to turn something so simple into such a fucking mess.
