harvest experiences and debate

i think this is one of most controversy point of debate of growers and smokers. i would like to know our experiences and opinion because after trying every way of harvest time from an early unripe to a fully overripe bud i change point of view. when i was younger i always grow my plants till the end of flowering, when buds can't grow more 30 to 50 % amber, high there is strong, heavy, physic, narcotic, perfect to stay on the sofa but really bad for all the rest. growing up i start to feel too heavy and unpleasant buds fully ripe , i'm a bad ass smoker and it's not a problem of tolerance , so i start harvest more with my sense than eyes and weed come back to the old school , happy, strong feelings like when i try my first joint in childhood. here an example this mango haze was harvested with 16 weeks ,when i smoked i didn't like it and also after 4-6 month curing she was really unpleasant ,demotivating ,has a strange taste but was perfectly organically growed.... a deception. after all i didn't kill the mother giving one more chance and i try another run, this time i chopped her at 14 weeks, smell was better with hints of mango and haze ,i describe shortly the high in the page before, instead in plant chopped at 16 week smell was completed trasormed into something like harsh catpis.
first 3 pics are from 16 week mango haze plant, one or two days before harvest (tomorrow i will up date also a dry sample), last photo is a dry buds take at 14 week. so now with most of strain i chop when thc is fully formed milky with less amber possible . what do you think guys? share our experience

Aloha kirabull,

In my humble opinion, I don't think this is necessarily controversial issue but a matter of a subjective point of view coupled with the matter of different cultivators grown in different environments.

Me personally I like my 100% narrow leaf harvested super late in the outdoor tropical sun. I often found any sativa harvested early doesn't reach its potential in regards to potency/ character . And yeah a good long cure maybe 6 months.

Haven't grown indicas or hybrids in a long time but I liked them harvested early to mid.

Test and see what works for ya

How illuminating it is to peer backward through a perfect circle at that ancient struggle for the visible moment of the soul. All time vibrates to that call: "Here I am!" With a mind informed by artist-giants who come afterward, I peer at handprints and flowing muscles drawn upon the rock with charcoal and vegetable dyes. How much more we are than mere mechanical events! And my anticivil self demand: "Why is it that they do not want to leave the cave?"

I think for this reason, keeping track of the % colour in the heads is important, harvest some at different stages when first and second runs are being done. First time is to get a feeling of what you like best, second time is to make sure it's the same as clones usually flower quicker so the heads become an important tool.

I have used my senses for many years now to know when a plant is ready. The smell and look of a plant change in the last few weeks as it ripens.. It really depends on the types of high you want from each strain. I love to leave the sativas as late as possible . Mainly because they pack on heaps of resin and weight right at the end

Hey akirabull,

Damn those look nice. I'm gonna have to sample some in order to give you my profesional opinion. Please send to 123 sesame st. I'm the guy who likes cookies. Haha.

Umm yeah, harvest what ever is your preference for the type of high in regards to that particular cultivator. Why not make different batches for different settings as well.

Btw what ace plants you growing?

Godspeed
