Jack Pine Report

I grew out a pack of Jack x Pine Skunk. I ended up with 4 females, which were flowered for 10 weeks.

They seemed quite slow in maturing glands and I didn't think it would do any harm to let them go till they looked ready.

The first female was grown a while ago, it didn't get very vigourous, and that may have been grower error, but it did produce some very frosty buds.

The next batch of seeds gave another 3 females which were grown together. These were much more vigorous, all had a similar branchy structure with quite thin limbs.

These 3 all developed very good buds, there was some variation in yeild, with No.2 being the heaviest plant of all in that crop, with No. 3 giving a still good yeild, and 4 being the smallest.

So they all seemed to have faint fruit/berry smells while flowering, I didn't detect much pine.

They also needed support by the end of flowering due to fairly hefty buds but long slender branches.

Not sure why some images seem to be rotated.

Anyway, now for the important part.

The buds after drying were quite dense, with a large amount of resin. The glands seem particularly 'thick'.

All of the plants were very consistent in growth and the three later females all gave a similar effect.

When I vape these, they produce a quite gentle head high, also a fairly nice but light body high. Unfortuneately they all seemed to have an incredibly low 'ceiling' for me.

I usually have a vape after checking plants in the evening, then a small joint later. So none of these Jack Pines really produced the kind of lethargic sleepy stone I was expecting.

The smells a light fruity skunky smell, that produces a fairly thick smoke. But the pine element is not very pronounced.

The fairly light high after having a small vape basket full didn't seem to be intensified much by having a joint of the same later.

The body high gives a nice glow, but the head high just doesn't have the kick to be much fun. It's kinda relaxing, but thats sort of all, quite a fuzzy but not too strong head.

In short, they are not very 'potent'.

So really I didn't enjoy this too much. I'm getting to the end of my last crop and what is mostly left are the Jack Pines.

It's ok, but I wouldn't grow it again,

I haven't seen any other detailed reviews of this cross, so I'd welcome anyone to post up their experiences.

Maybe I just got some outliers in this pack.

I greatly appreciate this report. Thank-you!

Tomorrow I will be starting a seed soak. I’ll begin with three of VG’s Pre-98 Bubba S1s. Give them a couple to three week head-start and then follow ‘em with a pack of Jack Pine; and also give one WOS freebie fem of Strawberry Blue a go - hopefully she pops.

Sounds like you got it for the same reasons I did: sleepy-time-day-ender stuff. And the idea of very piney smells... mmm... one of my favorites! So, not the best news, but we’ll see what I turn up.

I think the description said something about not being good for hash due to the large trichs. And also that early staking is a good thing, as you’re reporting. I take it the odor warning was unnecessary? I like the ones that fight the carbon filter! (And such a claim was made - even bought a new one in preperation.)

I’m still really looking forward to this run. It will kick off a search through six other selections looking for that sleepy-time winner. Something to keep around. (but there’ll be other boxes to tick too, other than just effect, so... could prove to be quite the search. )

Thanks again.

A bit disappointing to hear. I was really excited about the possibility of strong pine smells and flavours. I hope we hear that other have better results.
