gth1 fem grow journal from seed to harvest in moonshine mix organic soil

This is my first cannabis grow/i do hold a hort/NO cert but i feel it offers very little help. I am going organic/looking to grow quality over quantity and have read ALOT of info and i seem to be inspired by StrainMan and MicrobeMan, along with RD gear/genitics and i love what Scott represents.I am currently growing RD-GTH1, BCBD-GSC, BCBD-GOD BUD all indoor in 4x4 tent....all were started at the same time from seed, with the GTH1 being my star! germination method was 24hr soak in R/O water/papertowel found on the RD website with 100% germ rate..all 3 are feminized seeds. Started these after taproot in 25% of each FFHF/FFLW/BLACK GOLD ORGANIC SOIL/FF BIG & CHUNKY PER in solo cups. all 3 popped the surface in 48 hours. My lighting is 600w MH adjusted to 50% on the ballast and is about 15" from the top of the plants. My first transplant will be into 1g pots with moonshine mix organic supersoil per the RD website without the fruit and flower, than into 2g pots with new soil (still w/o fruit & flower) and finally into 5g smart pots with the fruit & flower 7-10 days before flipping to 12-12. i plan on using no nutes until week 3,4, & 5 of flower. So far everything is good/ no problems yet/ noticed a few nats but used neem and no sign of nats now!!!! I will post every 3 days or so with pics and progress and hopefully, being a newbee i will run into few or no problems

Hi Oilman5150, good luck on your first grow. Sounds like you have a nice setup and a good selection of strains.

i can see some of the tips on the new growth curling or clawing a little bit..im thinking just a reaction to the transplant or maybe the mix has more nitrogen that it is used to. I dont see any discoloration, but i will be keeping an eye on this closely

Hi Oilman5150, good luck on your first grow. Sounds like you have a nice setup and a good selection of strains.

thanks GastroGrower, btw i remember you from the candy grow from delicious seeds/ how did that go?? I also have a fem candy by delicious seed(freebie) that i popped..its a small seedling/maybe 6 days and looks very weak compared to my current gear. Just wondering if it was worth the time and effort

So far the Candy has been a bust for me. It looks like it's stalled or is just growing painfully slow. Still hasn't produced a third set of leaves so it's plummeting in priority in my lineup, Haha.

I'll probably toss it in another week or so if it doesn't improve drastically.

damn..sorry to hear that..keep me posted tho..im gonna try and get mine to do something but dont have alot of faith based on how poor the seedling looks, but who knows

these guys have exploded in new pots....moonshine mix is amazing!!!!..i see alot of different versions out there but this mix made EXACTLY as the RD website suggests..this is 6 days in 1 gallon pots from solo cups//these girls are 31 days old today....the GTH1 is outgrowing the rest so far and i think im gonna top her tonight

Your plants are looking really healthy. Much better than my 1st grow...actually better than a lot of mine...but anyway...

Congratulations, I'm subbed for your journal

thanks worm....glad someones along for the ride!!....im really torn right now about topping. they are all about 8" tall, maybe 9" on the Ghost Train Haze and the nodes are really close, maybe 1/2" apart. i think the MH 600 is keeping them short and bushy....do you think they are to early to top?? any advice on topping or fimming would be greatly appriciated

hey oilman, good choice with the GTH#1´s : ) I have two GTH#1´s in my budding tent for the second time atm and can assure you they react very well to topping! yours look pretty nice and healthy, I see no problem in topping them right now..
or if you want to clone them I would wait a little more to have some bigger top-clones..

I have a bag seed I pulled out of some GTH (not sure of the cut) that grows crazy fast like that. Definitely a candidate for some heavy topping/lst.

thanks for the info. def gonna try and FIM ot top the GTH tonight. i love the possibility of 4 cola's, or do you think its better to top the GTH rather than FIM?

just try it, fimming is something that doesn´t always work..sometimes you just end up with a topping hehe ; )

decided to top the GTH instead of FIM. this is my first grow so i figured topping would be simple. I did not top the other 2 yet because the GTH was so far ahead and i want them to catch up in height.

also transplanted all 3 from the 1 gallon to the 2 gallon pots. i was trying to keep them in the 1 gallon pots 2-3 weeks or so but they were drying up in less than 24hrs and starting to wilt. this is the root ball of the GTH after being in the 1 gallons in for 7 days in moonshine mix without the f&f
