Teen Use in Colorado Held Steady

I didn't know where to post this because it's not huge news but a few comments in the article made me take notice. For instance...

"That's really in the area where I have concerns about reliability," said David Murray, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and former chief scientist at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

That the survey was conducted in schools was in itself problematic, he said, because heavy marijuana users tend to skip school or drop out. "This is really troubling that you may be missing the most at-risk kids, systematically," Murray said.

Now I know kids who are users may be more apt to skip school than say honor students but you know who skipped the most when I was in school? The athletes. To be fair, when I was in school I was both an athlete and user (and honor student)...didn't skip much at all.

actually the teen usage rate fell from 25% before legalization to 21% afterwards, a 16% decrease.

something the fascists are already desperately trying to spin away. Going to hear a lot about this study during campaign season.

Leaches would be better than fascist. That is so worn out. Their jobs literally depend on victimizing, controlling citizens.

Holland already did the study over decades. Lower teen usage. 'Think of the chirruns!'

when the results don't go the way the prohibtionists want... the qualify the results with statements like " heavy marijuana users tend to skip school or drop out"
THEN make claims that they are systemically missing the most at risk group of kids (where is the study backing THAT claim up????)
kinda convenient.... how they (prohibitionists, people responsible for cannabis illegality being upheld) continue to make themselves "necessary" without ever being necessary....

that was my thought too - Colorado is slowly turning into the Netherlands. Where for decades the adult usage rate has been similar to the US, but the under-age usage rate has been 1/3rd of the police-state USA.

Interesting. This statistic makes me question what dynamics prompting teen use may be at play.

Wink

no surprise to me. if it is legal, & old folks (us) do it, how could it POSSIBLY be the cool thing to do? i've said for decades that teen pot use would wither on the vine if it ever became legal...

It's always more fun to break the rules.

Wonder if teen use would drop even further if they had open legitimate access without threat of a "record" looming over their heads?

Not that I advocate underage use but what if parents were given the power to control their households back?
