Rooted rockwool coco clone into straight hydroton 24/7 recirc [pics]
guys , some of you may remember me from back in the day. It's been a while but I'm back. First time going straight into hydroponics from hand watering coco for 10 years.
I have pretty much bought a hydroponic system called the nutrifield "pro pot" 27l there is four of them hooked up a resovoir of 65litres . It's gravity fed pretty much single pot style recirculating back to the red.. I simply want constant flow of nutrient 247 into hydroton. I really want to see the explosive growth rates and yields. Question time 1. i have some established very healthy clones in rockwool and coco in tiny 100mm pots and simply I want them into straight hydroton. Do I just pop them in and fire it up? 2. I've heard I cannot do this and I have to wash all the coco off the clone and somehow remove the rockwool cube because I'm going to get stem rot if I don't and the coco is going to stuff my system up even if there is only 100mm of it ? 3. You can buy mesh bags that fit inside the nutrifield pot system to prevent particles of medium going down the pipes . Do I need the bags even though I'm growing in hydroton? 4. I love the simplicity of running a pump 247 with a constant flow rate from three top fed lines on the ring , lots of people say I can run it 247 and see explosive growth is this true ? Or should it be timed ? Even though they are huge pots? But I can't find many information on the web of people doing this... But I have a mate that is currently doing it but he starts his clones off eZ cloner 5. Next time when I have a rooted clone. Do I just stick the cube right in the middle of the hydroton and start flowing over the rockwool ? Or should I not aim for the cube but only "around" the cube 6. How do I do this properly next round with new clones ? I really like the idea of raising them in coco but I don't know why everyone says I can't do this? If I tease the roots off the coco why can't they go searching ? I can tie the feeders to the sides where it won't touch the coco but only some of the root mass? 7. If this is impossible to do, what should I do with this system and the clones I have ? Coco? Straight perlite? I don't want to reclone if I can avoid it It's really confusing me and I'm loosing sleep over it , literally can't stop thinking about it as to why it's such a problem that I have to destroy my healthy clones to get them into the hydroton If you owned a system like this , what would you do? I want it hassle free. I prefer not to do drip to waste coco in them and get cal mag issues and waste nutrient . I really would like it recirculating. |

I thought you were not supposed to flood and drain while lights out.

Coco isn't for hydro. I'm sure your friend has told you this.
