Legalization in Maine

Evening everybody. I usually don't dabble in politics publicly, but I felt the need to bring attention to the issue.
I'm in favor of legalization, but i also agree with caregivers who are worried of a monopoly being formed, and people loosing the opportunity to participate in the industry.

Legalize or Legal Lies? - New England Cannabis Display

You guys have thoughts on the issue? Anybody from Colorado or Washington? What ended up happening with the caregiver programs in your state?

This is why I am voting against it. Keep big business out of cannabis.

As far as I know the MPP was absorbed into the Legalize Maine initiative. Which as far as I know was supported by most people in the community out here. MPP however was not. And they decided that having 2 proposals on the ballot wasn't going to help anyone. As far as I knew that wording for the initiative was still the Legalize Maine wording. And although it says that only 122 licenses will be given, there are only I believe 8 or 9 licenses given for medical dispensaries in the state, and at least half of those were bought by out of state companies. Most from California. The old medical marijuana laws in ME were the bee's knees, but really the new laws aren't that spectacular. Not terrible by any means, but not spectacular. This is just my opinion, I feel discussion is important so that all angles can be heard.

I also feel it should also be pointed out that this bill allows personal cultivation, unlike Washington. And also that total legalization can take the spot light off of patients, if everyone can grow, than it is hard to target just one. And it is actually cheaper for the patient, due to the fact that they don't have to spend money to see a doctor that will recommend marijuana. Most that due are not covered by insurance.
