Direct sow

Can anyone give me tips on sowing right into prepared hole?

I'm at (a harsh) 43n and have read that indoor vegging is not recommended for HFH, similar to autos. These have some auto genes in there lineage right?

I usually prep holes with native, about 50% pro mix, a bag of lobster compost, osmosis time release ferts and micros. and maybe water poly crystals

I'm usually vegging indoors/GH until hardy. So this whole fragile seedlings outside thing scares me a bit good thing I have 150.

water heavy when sowed and thats it? or do you come back often to keep it moist? (of course depends on rain)

Any other tips for growing HFH at lower lats...

When did u place your order? How long did it take to get? What I do is drip em in water for 24 hours then straight into the final home. As for hfh seeds can't tell you I really wanted to grow them but not looking good for my order

Shit sorry to hear about your order. I hope it works out.

Thanks for the tip. I was even thinking I would bring them out to the site in water. So, the day before put into water, the next day hike out with the container and plant in soil, water soil. cross fingers

This is your 4th complaint about HFH...first numerous posts on the SCAMMERS thread which were deleted...and now here. Quit being a troller!!

As for Tech....we always sowed them directly into 5-7 gallon nursery buckets, using south facing area....they do well at most latitudes...highly recommended.

Or try your Solo cups then set out June 1st. Don't start them in those tiny packs.

Hey, nice to hear from you again

Yup tiny packs in the trash... I suppose that's what I get for going off my norm!

Back on topic... Ever sow straight to ground? Mostly curious about soil moisture/temp in ground vs the usual peat mix solo cup indoors... it's funny how exactly replicating nature as in sowing into the dirt outside seems like the weird thing to do even though that is what's been happening for thousands of years. Mostly just curious about info on germination rate expectations and tips and tricks and what not from people who have lived it. You know me just always trying to stay ahead of the curve

Well, depends on your substrate. We have sandy loam so water seeps through, dries quickly, hence the use of nursery pots/containers....water conservation so to speak.

If you have clay....if I recall, maybe? Then, make sure your 'nest' where you sow the seeds is proper ratio of top soil, compost.

Did an experiment a few summers ago, an Anasazi farm trick....placed terra cotta pot shards about a foot, maybe 16" below top surface with enough space for roots to pass through. Watering the holes, seeping in, the terra cotta "held" moisture in, not seeping through as rapidly.

Maybe try several and see how they do with direct sow....we always sided with caution and started in small containers....styro foam coffee cups (reusable all summer long) or Solo cups as you mentioned.

By direct sowing, are you going to make sure it's watered daily (in cups we water 1-3x a day to make sure shell of seed is moistened)? Or does it rain enough not to worry?

Oh, you're ahead of the curve!! Sometimes it takes a few methods to decide which one works best. You'll find your way!!

Good luck!!!

I have a plant in my garden now (HFH Polish Demon x Bodhi Blueberry Hashplant) that volunteer sprouted from last years crop. It did so well on it's own, I'm planning on direct sowing a bunch of seeds (a bunch of HFH and Bodhi crosses) this winter and/or early spring. No more messing with pots for me!

Grew out a Royal Dane...very sativa dominant. Liked it, but my faves are still Danish Gold, Danish-Durban and Polish Demon! Hash Plant2 another memorable one. Have several strains I'll try next year outdoors.
