Outdoor Ace run at 41N

Hey Guys,
New here. Doing a handful of plants outdoor this season. I’ve been prepping my soil. I’m going to be running mainly swamp tubes at 41N. This will be my first run with Ace genetics. I’ve been using organic soil for a while now, but normally with a light mix and teas along the way. This time with the swamp tubes. Tea’s are a pain to get to my location, I do have good water availability though. So… I’d like to make a water only soil mix close as I can. Thinking of leaning a bit light on amendments (particularly the guanos). worse comes to worse I could feed with liquids easily enough.

Strains:
Nepal Jam
Bangi Haze
Violeta
Kali China

I’m using this basic mix, lightened up a little. I calculated the amendments based on 40 gal’s of soil mix, but I’ll have a bit more than that, given perlite and casting volumes mainly.

Thanks to Burn1:
Bongaloid's Guano Mix.
Use all these items combined with one gallon of soil mix.

1/3C hi N Guano Mexican Bat Guano or Peruvian Seabird Guano (PSG)
1/2C hi P Guano (Jamaican or Indonesian Bat Guano)
1TBS Kelp Meal
(OPTIONAL) 1TBS Jersey Greensand

My mix:
Basic mix: (use this to start seedlings)
3.8Cuft Sunshine #4
30lbs Worm Castings
Perlite: approx 150% of castings volume…i.e. I mix by feel
Dolomite Lime (powdered): 5C

Added to mix at transplant:
N guano: 13C
P Guano: 20C
Kelp meal: 2.5C
Greensand:2.5C
Azomite:2.5C
Insect Frass(2-2-2): 3C
karanja cake: per directions on box

This is my first go at this much guano mixed in (I normally mix a minor amount in my soil, then feed with teas).
Does this sound way hot for these genetics? Cut it way back? Add other sources of NPK? I want to avoid blood meal in particular. There’s a lot of wildlife in my area. I’ll be planting outside late may after about 2.5-3 weeks of growth indoors(from germination, T5’s 18/6).

Looking forward to seeing/enjoying these ladies! Trying to do my best to prep for their happiness. I’ll be running each in approximately 10gal’s of this mix.

If I left out any details, let me know. Suggestions/criticism welcome. This is my first outdoor grow really besides a back porch one or two in the past. Big thanks to all the guys documenting their grows on here! Big inspiration!

PS, I’ll share pictures once ready to pop the beans. And I also have Zamaldelica, Malawi, and Panama for indoor I’ll be running in the fall

high lugie,
a warm welcome from me...
Your setup looks very promising!
I'm not sure about the mix but keep it simple and not too much nutes in the beginning...
Better to have little deficiencies as burning your outdoor plants!
I prefer long time organic fertilizer like guano and worm castings and in middle flower (mid august) a liquid organic tea with more P&K than N. When you prepare a tea look for the EC level... in pre flower and beginning of flower not more than 1 EC... if there are deficiencies not more than 1.5 EC... and in mid flower max 1.5 EC max... better always use 1 and you are safe!
Good luck and post pic's... i really love outdoor weed pic's... looking so beautiful natural :-)
M.

Thanks Guys, decided to back off a bit of the guano in the mix above, and plan to feed along the way. Didn't like taking that big of a leap on these girls, need atleast a little output.

holes are dug, and about ready, I forgot a camera last time, but I'll get some pictures of the swamp tubes all ready to go in the next week or so.

some sugestions
don't forget the THICK mulch. you can try basalt on few plants.
old compost or compost tea can add some "life" as do mycorizae.
i liked to feed with almost pure N (low k npk) during the grow and after add almost pure K (low n npk) just when flowering start (really at the start or just before). the one who tried it loved it.
a little bit of clay is good too .
a layer of river sand at the botom, if it is a wet area ,can help.
really large holes are really important. watch jorge cervantes videos in humbolt . it says it all.
good luck.

Welcome lugie

Thanks for supporting our work and for starting a grow diary!

You made an excellent choice of genetics for your latitude, and the sativas will compliment your menu in the fall.

The soil mix sounds good enough, try to start them from seed in a more light mix until they have 1 month of life, then you can start to give them more nutrients, especially when they are bigger outdoors in late May.

Worm casting is excellent for the whole growing stage and and to keep plants green and lush in early flowering. Add more guano to the mix when they are about to face the flowering.

Let us know if you have any doubt. Best wishes!

thanks Dubi! I've been slacking on updating... Had some sad losses early on. Dang deer! but still have Violeta, Nep Jam, and Bangi Haze going strong. They were all planted outside around may 20th. Most in 20 gallon+ of mix. One Nep Jam in about double that, in a very wet area, and she's loving it. I on the other hand am fighting off bugs, slugs, deer, hail... it's been a wild spring so far. Love seeing the girls pray to the sun, and generally deal with weather... big change from my normal indoor.

Note on my soil mix: I used a very light mix, just sunshine, dolomite, and worm castings until they were about 30-35 days old. Then I moved them to the mix above, but with much less guano... So far they are very happy. Plan is to use teas along the way, and some top dressing later in the summer.

I suck at updates, never took a single picture.... but it's nearly harvest time! deer in the spring cut my numbers way down, but I've got some lovely ladies left. Bangi Haze, Nep Jam, and Violetta. Looks like the Violetta and Nep Jam will be ready end of week/early next... Bangi a bit after that.

I've got some cold 40*F and buncha rain coming... crossing fingers. Think I'll probably chop the NepJam and Violetta before the rains come this weekend. and cross my fingers for the bangi.

for reference, my soil mix did very well, I had to add/supplement when flowering started, but it handled a nice long veg period very well.

Learnt a lot about growing in this area this season... stoked to push a bit more next year.

Thanks ACE!
