Mr. Nice Seeds Northern Lights #5 x Haze

I discovered a ridiculously vigorous cut of NL5 Haze C from a Mr Nice Seeds Fem 6 pack. The "newer" version of the Mr Nice NL5 x Haze seed line. Still bred by Shantibaba. I tossed the other potential keeper, which was NL5 dominant (my goal) due to EXTREME herming in the 5th day of flower..>! - Haze derivatives can be very sensitive to even a pinhole of light. Which may occur in the tent. But, does not affect any other varieties, or my chosen phenotype of the NL5 Haze.

This definite Sativa-Dom cut I kept has shown NO signs of anything weird. I have never seen such vigor, in veg, either. My guess - it's going to be an 11 - 12 week flowering cycle. 78+ days. I foresee the budding sites joining up, or 'stacking.'

With NL crosses, the yield can be absurdly high. With live buds as large as 2 liter bottles. This one looks like a good yielder, but I'm not expecting "Louisville Slugger" (baseball bat) sized buds.

It absolutely refuses to take on Mildew, even if it is rubbed with it. I wasn't too impressed with its slowwww production or typical piney haze smell (4 test plants in 2 pots, in a tent of Trip D). until tonight - when I noticed at day 41 of 12/12 (flowering) - that it had started to develop a special odour that I cannot describe, besides a wild and unique variant of Haze. A perfume smell that I call sexy. For lack of a better term, cause if I saw or smelled a woman with it on, I'd follow her anywhere.

Before 1937 when cannabis was made illegal to preserve the drug war after prohibition, 65% of perfumes were made primarily with various strains of cannabis - worldwide -

Medicinal THC was also available in US pharmacies in natural tinctures until Henry Anslinger and collective Reefer Madness changed all that. (Also a form of racism toward African-Americans and Hispanics which led to mass incarceration). F

Followed up by Nixon, and his self-declared "War on Drugs" (or hippies and African-Americans, depending on who you talk to). ----------------- rant over.

The founder of Mr Nice seeds (Welshman, Howard Marks) is a major Activist, so why not continue the tradition. ?

Anywhoooo, the buds on the NL5 Haze chosen cut are stacking up. I was concerned that they would be 13+ weekers, but it does not appear to be that long. If it happens to be, there will definitely be a large reward in quality and or quantity. It is always exciting to discover something novel in a seed pack.

Most people shy away from Haze varieties, especially in Indica-loving USA. Since they produce a Head High, as opposed to a couchlock stone, that us crazy Americans seem to enjoy.

For some, though, a hybrid high that produces energy without heart racing paranoia is a holy grail. This phenotype MAY produce racy Haze highs. We';; see. I have grown to enjoy that. Especially, since it is rare outside Europe.

I have a while veg room filled with the clones. And a set of new starts in the cloning machine. The Pheno I isolated can be flowered at 8-10 inches, due to the profuse 3 week stretch at the onset of flowering - but my veggers are 2 foot tall, AFTER I hacked the tops off for clones. DANGER WILL ROBINSON... A Jungle in the making. Out of 40 seeds, of varying packs - this is the only seeming keeper. The other 34 seeds were very Good genetics too, but this is all I got.

I only go for good hybrid yielders now. Nothing else is worth the space.

Overgrow the Gummint -

Update - No they were regular seeds. A five pack. My mistake, if that is what I said.

All 3 phenos grown out from clones of the original seed moms. I have found clones can be markedly different and better - even faster than seed mom plants.

One pheno very sensitive, went back to veg. What did finish right was awesome, and indica, with large calyxes. Kushy smell.

Other was NL5 Dom, but went male 3 days into flower.

I admit there was light leaking into the room. Triple Diesel always never missed a beat. But this was a construction ooops. Fixed.

Third pheno, 3 out of five seeds, VERY vigorous. I could see that immediately upon the seed popping. Stretch pheno. FInished in 78 days. Started into flower at 2 weeks veg, though. So, total time spent under lights was about the same as a common indica, right..?

Pheno 3 Had two harvest windows. Excellent Haze derivative. I LOVE smoking it. Easy on the lungs. UNmistakeable Haze flavor, but something else. NOT huge calyxes, but plenty chrystal coverage. Odd though, the Haze does not leave that incense-like scent in the air - like so many do - including Blue Dream. All in all 9 out of ten.

Have popped several different versions of SSH. Looking for something with NO heart raciness but uplifting high you feel every bong rip. Old school flavour, obvious NL Haze combo taste, as you'd expect. That has no ceiling.

Haven't tried a joint yet, as I am not a big doobie dude. I like rolling em a lot more than smoking em. But, THIS will not burn the throat, I think. Will give the cure a week more to do that.

Took pics today and before, but this HP computer will not let the photos go to windows media player like I am used to. Maybe I can figure it out.

Cheers.

I have found a lot of hazes from MNS almost smell like pee, they do not have that stereotypical haze smell. The haze smell reminds me most of central american sativa, that light incensy smoke. You can smell it a mile away because it travels

I agree. The incense smell from haze is one of the things I like most about it.

This pheno does not have that.

There is a sour haze smell, with a sweet note to the bud itself. Unique around here, as peeps prefer their Indicas.

For Me, the best part is the taste and the fact that the buzz is clean, with no heart raciness, like one can get with sativa-dom phenos. Oddly wnough, since I went gluten-free (80%) after a detox about 4 years ago, I don't ever feel that increased heart rate for anything. Good thing.

Probably should ask my "testers" about it.

I need to get the timetable down, where I am vegging these for 2 weeks, and straight to flower. So as to minimize the hit a longer flowering period creates. It all works out the same - except that HPS costs more to run than the T5s I usually use for veg.

Cheers.

It is just a Joy to smoke. Real Sativa-Dom Hazes are not usually available around here. .

Easy on the throat. My chosen pheno has a touch of an Indica feel in the Sativa Dom genetic, which is appreciated. Definite Haze, with the Fresh Typical Taste, and the requisite "Nuttiness," with something else fruity sort of. But, No ceiling. One feels every hit. No burnout. It's excellent.

Now, I educate my people as to the virtues of Haze, of which there are many.

Thank You Shanti, Howard (for being Howard, RIP), & Neville (for the Haze C in there).

Curve Ball tossed. I didn;t speak of the #2 pheno, cause it was affected badly by a slight light leak in a tent, where all other varieties never missed a beat. Only ran one (Clone of the seed mother), just to see how it did. I trimmed it anyway, even though some of it went back to veg. Some of the plant did finish correctly.

And I have been smoking a bud of it exclusively since I waked and baked with it. Bong rips, one every 15 mins or so, while I do other things

It is what I was looking for in terms of:
gumminess
afghani smell (piney, but a base of something Kushy too)
Stony as all get out
Haze taste too. With whatever the NL5 brought to it.
Mild hit. As in one can really pack a bowl and not cough.

I saved a clone, and am going to grow it out. We'll Try it again.

Popping seed packs is never a slam-dunk. Always lucky to find anything of merit, really.

I've tossed out some things I should have kept in the past, as well.

As in Real Keepers. This is one, if I can stabilize the situation.
