Go hiking up road with loaded backpack to prepare for thru hike. Only going 2 or 3 miles up, rest, come back. Get to like 2 1/2 miles going up the road and some truck comes down the road...stops, asks me if I'm okay...yeah, just preparing for a thru hike...he keeps going...little bit later he comes back by....I keep waking back to my girlfriend waiting in the truck.... meanwhile, she's texting me and calling me to see if I'm alright not knowing I don't have my phone on me. Then a sheriffs truck pulls up and some old dude tells me there's been break ins in the area and the realtor was concerned because he saw someone walking on the road, yadda yadda yadda....he leaves up the road to calm the realtor and tell him it's just a hiker, I suppose. He comes by and says hi and goes on his way again. I get back to the truck and (I'll call her A.) A. is all concerned and says, "What the fuck? Go for a hike and get profiled for a good ole' B n E...that's fucking retarded. We're moving."
And that's how you end up with reservations for 2 at a KOA campground tiny cabin for a week in another state while we find jobs and kick rocks for 3 months until our thru hike...shit man...

just got back, -7F wasn't too bad but the -35F windchill was a bitch.......
