I've hadgreat results with and without root gel. Now I tend to just dip the tip, but I don't scrape the stems anymore either but maybe I should.
I use a metal skewer to poke 2 inch deep hole in cups of coco. Just put a new batch in today. Temps are 26-27 in a waterproof tote with T5 in the lid

Fishinfool, thats really amazing, how are you doing it?

My method is pretty simple. I take the cut, clean it up a bit, and place it in wet coco. I use cloning gel, i poke a small hole in the coco, i bury at least two nodes, i wait.

I have 100 percent success but it takes a long time.

So what are you doing different?

I use Ice mountain spring water in a cup with a few Granules of HTH Shock and Swim . Clip my Clones and straight into Cup till i finish clipping . Pack netted pots with COCO and saturate with same solution , solo cups are fine but i like the air circulation with netted . Then i use a twisty tie to punch hole in coco for clipping to sit . From there i use a needle to poke holes down the stem being careful not to penetrate thru other side . I learned this and about HTH from another Member here , Poke my holes dip back in solution then Home depot Rooting powder . Dome , Heating pad low light and your done . NO misty at all , I pour warm solution in dome every couple days .

Grocery store veg bags put the solo in and blow it up then tie it off. Pre charged coco, IBA powder, bennies and enzymes.

i switched to the cheap rooting powder with BTA in it, i spoon it out onto a folded sheet of paper and the cuts get dusted in it and popped in coco cups, i try to keep them warm and humidity up, its been so dry and cold here i put them in a dome inside my tent.

its possible that previously i had a stretch when nothing would root, all damping off, i was using a bottle of gel at the time and just always dipping the cuts into it, not thinking about contamination and cross contamination. the powder seems to be easier to deal with, its a dust though so im pretty careful with it.
