for the pros, What Kelvin light color for Veg?
This hasn't been talked about much... maybe for some advance growers....
I just switched my seedlings from the floros..... 2 X 32W t12's.... I have a 3 X 96 W Power compact (same as compact floro, FYI) So i have many different light bulbs.... I know that veg usually requires more blue, so they say, and flower more red... I don't wanna use my 1000W MH/HPS yet as I am just looking for a good mother plant... and am only using four pots, so i'll be a waste.... What temperature color should i use for the 96W pc?? I have 10,000k & 6,500k & actinic.... Actinic is the most blue, actually looks really blue.... 6.5k is day light and 10k is white light (FYI, the Kelvin rating is not really the temperature, it's the color this black metal emits at that temperature.... ) I am using 2 X 10K and 1 X 6.5k but should i use the actinic ??? what ratio should i use? to get the faster grow? I'm trying to grow my mother plant fast... so i can start my 49 plant system... Haven't heard much about the color temperature, so i think this is a question for the pros. thanks in advance |

6500k is optimum veg spectrum. It usually comes in a daylight bulb.

I use a 4100K Agrosun for mine...lots of PAR watts
![]() Go with the 6500's...a shop light with a couple more 6500k's would be a cheap way to add some more light if you need to. The actinic is way too blue to provide much usable light I believe. |

bulbs with the same cct/kelvin rating can and do have dramatically different spectral power distribution. Therefore it is not a reliable criteria to base lighting decisions on.

But most manufacturers don't list PAR so what else are you supposed to use to determine spectrum?

Kelvin Means Shit.. look at the Nm ranges
you want 460nm for veg.. or 6000k if you really have to have a K raiting. for flower 620-660nm 2000k-2500k LOL.. Actinic plus is the Blue you do want.. its 460nm thats perfect https://advancedtechlighting.com/hortt5ho.htm look at the bottom and read why purple link. you will see actinic folows plant needs
