There are more coffeeshops than you can visit on one trip.
While I enjoyed most of them, none of them were what I'd call classy, swank, or upmarket. Do you know of a posh coffeshop? Real clean and classy interior with nice furniture? Not saying I'm too good for the others, just curious if anyone has taken the initiative to make a high class one? Of course, if such a place exists, the prices for the weed & hash would probably be more expensive than anywhere else...and that's to be expected. Again, don't get me wrong: I enjoyed the dark & funky shops I visited (like the Arabica Lounge and De Tweede Kamer). Just curious, that's all. |

I dont think you will find a posh place, who wants to burn expensive furniture.
Nols shop was nice and chill and really open and well lit but thats in Haarlem. Im sure you can find a place that you like if you did some searching.

Not sure if there is any coffeeshop that's catered for 'Posh' people.
I'm thinking the Rokerij, last time I went through there were quite a lot if people staring at me... most of them looked like the 'art' type people that go to galleries. I don't like the place myself. Amnesia is a good place... no stoner or hippie bull$hit. More like a real coffeeshop than a stoner hangout.

Yea, Amnesia was lighter & brighter than most I went to...I mainly remember that the chick dealer acted like I was interrupting her conversation with some bloke---and I didn't say a word nor make any odd expressions nor even sigh. Just waited patiently by the electronic scale. I wouldn't call it a posh place but I agree with ya, it was more like a real coffeeshop than a stoner hangout.
Will add Rokerji to my list---although I ain't no art snob. Just curious to see a really nice place to kick back and toke: clean surroundings/nice furniture instead of a dark funky dive with ancient, hand-me-down sofas & tables. |

Most places are dark,,, but try the Noon-just off Leidseplein-which has renovated the inside with new stuff. Homegrown Fantasy is not dark or funky or used furniture, and has a great bathroom. Free City on Marnixstraat is big and well lit with good food. Rookerij on Singel 8 is dark but has an interior reminiscent of Escher. De Dampkring has gone completely tourist but worth a visit. Avoid Bulldogs at all costs. Barneys is worth a visit early am or late pm, but don't go to the corner shop 'cause the cook's a junkie. Styx on Utrechstraat is spartan with stiff wood tables but clean and well-lit and the locals double park to pop in and buy, which is a good tip...
