Outlaw tunes, Folk Ya

I love me some good folk music. I'm always surprised to not see more listened to on the boards. We all love a good story, we are always are trying to find the original source yet fall short when Folk get involved

My love for folk started, like many, with Bob Dylan...

Newport Folk Festival 1963
Bob Dylan "North Country Blues"

I started this thread to post up some good folk old and new. Folk started so many genres of music that there might be a little Bluegrass, blue's, old time... and anything else folky.

Feel free to post up whatever the Folk you want

Although a different world, little has changed in what we want since the folk of the late 1800's. Some of these songs were first recorded in the 20's & 30's like one of my favorites by Clarence Ashley. Still wanting on that log cabin so high, so I can see willie passing by.

"Gonna build me log cabin
On a mountain so high
So I can see Willie
As he goes passing by.

Oh, the coo-coo, she’s a pretty bird
She warbles as she flies
She never says coo-coo
Till the fourth day July"

Folk is everywhere, one of my favorite Janis covers

I know your thinking, outlaw music? Yup, some of the first folk passed on was about the outlaws and the crimes of the day in story with a beat, and still is.

Clarence Ashley - Little Sadie - think this one is from around 1929

later on Doc Watson covered with a little more country soul killing that banjo.
