I haven't seen anything in any OG line that would indicate a preference toward outdoor growing.
It is my impression that all OGs prefer indoor, some may be adapt to outdoor growing depending on climate but I believe you would still have to support and care for them regularly so no guerilla growing or such imho. |

I've heard og stands for ocean grown. Because of the long internode spacing less risk of mold them long dense coals. I've seen them grown great along the coast, even in heavy fog areas.

Isn't OG like, Original Gangster?
![]() I always thought it was Original Gangster Kush, not "Ocean Grown Kush"?

Nope, stands either for Ocean Grown or Overgrown.
Lots of rappers like to rap about weed tho n obviously OG Kush makes sense to be Original Gangster in that scene. |

Maybe I've listened to too much rap then.
Overgrown? Sure, but never heard this "Ocean Grown" term for OG Kush translation before this thread, to be honest. |

Whatever it is, the consensus seems that "OG" stands for "Ocean Grown". Whether that makes sense or not ....
The story behind OG Kush isn't as terribly complicated as people try to make it out to be (imho). The term "Kush" comes from the area "Hindu Kush" in Afghanistan and refers to Indica strains from that region. There are many, many, many "Kush" strains, from MasterKush to TriangleKush to you-name-it. "OG Kush" is just one or several of these "Kush-genetics" thrown together and rounded off by the favorite child of American stoners: Chemdawg. Chemdawg basically is what turns "a Kush" to "the OG Kush". At least that's how I understand it. But there are many sources on the origins of OG Kush on this board. Check out the Marijuana Breeding section for more info. |
