Making a computer growcase
I was wondering what is the perfect light for a simple 16.5" x 7.3" x 16.2" computer case and also the best ventilation for it? I want to grow already a year and a half. It was impossible cause of personal reasons. So maby this stealth micro set-up is just perfect for me! I was thinking about a 150watt HPS light and ventilation maby a 80mm. Want also a silencing device. Has somebody experience with it? I don't want that somebody else hear something, want to look and find my computer case
And maby also a filter system. But i don't know it yet, just making plans. For the silencing device & filter system i need more space than my grow i think, lol Also, has somebody a nice (european) site where you can buy all this stuff?? Bless

that case is less than 1 sqft i think. a 150w hps would turn it into an oven. a 70w hps or some cfls would be good.

i think it would be hard to cool a 70 watt in a small case like that. search around for full tower cases. then put a 70 watt hps in that.

silencing device. do u know how a bike muffler looks like inside?
the sound comes from air moving at high speed. you can build a silencer of a tube (the larger diameter the better) and inside that tube u put a screen that will hold glassfibre (against the wall) or any other silencing material. the larger diameter the more silent it will become (it becomes less turbulent and the air speed goes down). whistle and u see how it works, now try to whistle with your mouth wide open, no sound huh... btw i think maybe 40-50 w cfl is what you can keep cool at most in that case Last edited by dope sauce; 07-20-2006 at 12:53 AM.. |

Dude your going to get like 3-5g, why grow thats small, the lights will cost more than the weed if you bought it at $15g. And I assume your growing bagseed. You might as well grow it in a big cardboard box(it would be better), and please explain how you going to keep a flowering plant unde 16in, you dont even have 16in of grow space you actually have about 10in, and you still have to keep the lights from burning the plant.

1.Clfs can be kept within 3 inches of the plants. For me and my computer grow (I'll get a camera one day) I'm having fun with it. Plus it looks like a computer and computers with lights comping out of them are not that uncommon anymore.
2. I'm using a screen to keep my plants from outgrowing my 20" of growing height. Grow on man. What light choice did you make anyways? |

70w HPS with a couple of PC fans on it to cool it down. Ive seen this done in a number of other pc case grows. However you'll need excellent ventillation and that I can't help you with - but good luck man. IT CAN BE DONE!

Yeah, it can be done! I remember a thread where a guy put a soil-filled pet bottle on its side and carved a hole for the stem. I'd also say a well ventilated 70W HPS is the ticket.
What's with that LED light link up there? Is that for real? Anybody growing with those? I want one. . . duggy
