Does Everybody Love 62% RH?
Since I started using a gauge to measure relative humidity in my cure jars, I have found that when I get to about 70-72% RH it's about the same as what goes on the market around here.
By the time it gets to 62%, it's pretty dry to me. Anybody else feel this way? |

Nope.
To me buds @62 still feel soggy. I'm in a dry climate so things will get crumble dry if left out. So I may just used to dryer product. I have a bunch of the bovida 62s n they may b good for ready to smoke buds. But I find they Giv buds that brown/old look quickly when stored at that RH. I also feel like buds keep more smell when stored a bit dryer. So my personal preferances seems to b around 50% RH. The brown buds I refer to could b called "cured" by many and seem to b prefered by a lot of people. But I think that it is diferent from the original profile of the fresh / live buds. Jst my .02 Big ups respect and happy growing. |

i would think it depends on the market and your location. i've seen herb here in colorado that is so dry it crumbles and stuff so wet that i'm 100% sure someone was more interested in paying bills than they were delivering good product.
i try to get things down to 65% and then jar it for long term cure/storage ....... pretty sure Simon said that was were you could be pretty sure you wouldn't end up with mold. been a long time since i read his thread |

I don't know the % humidity of the buds I smoke or grow.
I've smoke kinda wet buds I didn't let cure long enough and they smoked well besides not staying lit the first few puffs of a bowl. For joints I almost prefer the crumbly, over dried stuff because it's easier to break up. |

Best cure I've ever had was a "magic pizza box" cure.
Basically a stack of pizza boxes, each with 1 to 2 ounces per box. Plants cut down and hang dried for about 3 days. Then when they are cut, the buds (un-manicured) go into the pizza boxes. With 3 to 6 pizza boxes at any one time. The very gentle heat source - the pilot light on the stove. It was a rotating process, bottom box would go to the top after a morning or afternoon or evening in the bottom slot. Over and over. When a box was done, I would pull the box out of the stack for 'further inspection'. ![]() It was a process where new mostly dry buds were added, and drier ready to smoke, partially cured buds, were removed. The daily inspection routine was definitely some major Aroma Therapy. If I ever repeat the process, I'll add a humidity meter to each box to see what the numbers are. |

62% RH in the jars is right down the groove although anything in the high 50's to upper 60's seems to work well. It's a hair damp straight out of the sealed jars but dries quickly to being just right if kept in a tin or any container that doesn't sell tightly. |

I like mine dried and cured to crumble but what anybody else who sees my weed seems to thinks it's too dry. I've since started playing around with the Bovida packs to get them to that 62% baseline because it's very easy to dry more here in Colorado if I feel like it. To me the 62% still feels spongey/not dry and definitely needs a grinder to break down before smoking or else it's too chunky.
