Apparently, in many of these towns, weed is hard to come by but meth is cheap & plentiful.
Back in the eighties, there'd be pot 'droughts' that could last months, but smack (heroin) was cheap & plentiful.

Off-course, maybe the young ones who use meth are avoided by people like me who will have nothing to do with them (mates know I'm good for a smoke if they're dry)
I've lost friends over the issue. I tell them straight, speed/meth/ice fucks you up, no good will come from it. A speed freak is like a junkie & can't be trusted. Sad but true.

Where i live cannabis is very easy to grow , but alas it is as you say numbskulled,
meth and ice are easier to obtain ,
and folks are going crazy in the streets ,, literally ..

i have also tried to avoid friends with those habits etc
but still ended up being fucked over by it ,
they have finally thought to address the problems wayyy too late as usual,

this problem has been developing for over 20 years , i saw it myself in the southern cities when i was a lot younger .. ..

the whole reality of heroin and meth being readily available and cheaper than our beautiful herb is almost a worldwide reality.

the same has been true for Venezuela, specially true the last 15 years...

it is also true in Israel and all over the Middle East, even in places Lebanon and Egypt you will score heroin cheaper and easier than actual green buds.

Now in Venezuela there's a shortage of food due to the Dictatorship there, and due to exchange control you can't buy foreign currency, so people that used to bring herb from Colombia can't almost do it anymore, and yet, heroin and cocaine are cheap and plenty... but food, basic hygiene products and medicines are hard to find and super expensive.

if I didn't want to sound like a paranoid conspiracy theorist, I'd not say this is done well on-purpose...

"Paranoid"? No, I'm afraid that there's complicity at every level. Just look at the money wasted on the 'war on drugs'.
$80 billion can't keep the U.S. streets from being flooded with powders, as an example. The evidence shows that the CIA funds it's black ops with the fortune made from cocaine & heroin importation.
There's also evidence to support the allegation that candidates like George Snr & Bill Clinton had their presidential campaigns funded with black money.
It can't be much different for the rest of the world. Where there's easy money to be made ........

I'm in one of those draconian states or territories where 100g is considered trafficking. I'm an oz. a month kinda guy and can only grow one outdoor crop per year.

Sorry to hear that you are in that much pain.
If I didn't have Herb, I don't know how I'd cope. A few puffs a day of the 'right' strain deals with 95% of my nerve pain.

There are many conditions that will be considered, like nerve,back,neck pain. Pain that is not responding to pharmaceutical analgesia. Ms, epilepsy & other chronic conditions will be considered.
As medicine gets more acquainted with the beautiful Herb, more & more conditions will be proven to treat/heal. That's what has Big Pharma shitting itself because they can't replicate anything as safe or effective.

It's good news for all Aussies. Those in "draconian" states will probably have to wait a bit longer than NSW, but evidence will prove that there is no reasonable reason why citizens in your state can't benefit from Herb.
Eventually it will become an election issue & then watch how the bastards will scramble to show who's the more 'compassionate'.

Public perception is slowly changing for the better. Bombard your politicians with your story. It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

In the meantime, have you considered growing your medicine indoors? Due to the heat, I grow enough Herb in the cooler months that lasts me a year. Although I'd prefer to go big, I only use a 400w light & grow in a coco mix & I get really frosty bud.
You can even grow reasonable bud under a few CFL light bulbs.

Do you make hash from your trim? It's well worth the effort. It's brilliant for pain relief.
