Australian federal govt. will legalise the growing of medicinal marijuana.

Hey everyone. Just had to share this positive news with my fellow medical marijuana patients & recreational users!

It's just been announced that the Australian federal government will legalise the growing of medicinal marijuana.
I've been waiting nearly two decades to hear this news & now that it's happened, I thought that I'd be whooping with joy, but instead, I only feel mildly optimistic.
Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet, or knowing the power Big Pharma holds over politicians I still fear them hijacking the 'grow'.

Anyway, after years of agitating for change, we are finally moving in a positive direction.

For those who live in more enlightened societies, who are already allowed to choose their own medicine, which is the best legal model that I could wish for? (hopefully our law makers will take advantage from experience learnt from those who are operating functional & fair systems)

What legal marijuana system would you advise that I push the politicians to adopt?

Hahaha, no, the Queen has no power here anymore. Just a face that we stick on the back of our coins.

It's great news that we're finally moving in the right direction, but I just read that the Health Minister is proposing that it's grown under licence & we'll be offered some commercial laboratory crap. As we all know, one size does not fit all.

It will be interesting to see how the state govt's respond.

Now that they're opening up to the idea, we need to push for complete freedom to grow our own medicine.

I'll continue to grow regardless of the law. It's just that I'd much prefer to do it legally. A reasonable request me thinks.

To me, in US, biggest concern would be about seeds and clones coming in, with potential parasites. I know Hawaii and Tasmania have super strict eco laws.

Being an island continent, Aus is free of many flora & fauna diseases & parasites, basically because we have very strict bio security.

Shouldn't be a problem though, I can supply heaps of virus/parasite free seeds & clones from within, hehe, if that's all that's stopping them.

It is surprising news for sure but it is going to be left up to the individual states within Australia to govern how what when an where people can get their medicine. I don't trust any of the bastards in power but I really hope we are all allowed to grow our own plants either indoors or outdoors and don't have to report or sign any licences to grow our own medicine.
Good news for sure coming from this draconian state of mind Australia but I will pray the correct decisions are made regarding Medical Marijuana here in Australia.

'Pass'? Thank-you, don't mind if I do

Exactly. That's where we now need to focus our efforts for sure. My medicine works just fine & I know that it's free of chemicals ....... what am I doing? Preaching to the choir, hahaha. (Nicely medicated on HBO atm, sweet )

Yes that's right bro, we need to all concentrate our efforts to be unified across the 7 states and territories with the same or pretty similar laws regarding MM. That way all of us here in OZ can benefit from being able to grow our own MM and not have to report to a government department to receive a big pharma made tincture or oil on a weekly or monthly basis.
We need the freedom to be able to grow our own Medical Marijuana if we choose to grow it or be able to get the Medical Marijuana and not be persecuted and prosecuted through the courts over a frigging plant which helps people out in many varied and new ways everyday.

It's definitely a step in the right direction......But I wouldn't be getting too excited. I'd say this is going to be very regulated. Going to the docter and claiming you have a sore back, is not going to cut it.

Being the cynic I am.....I'd say this is just laying the ground work for Big pharma.....Or possibly another well funded company.
In the end, this will be just another industry dominated bye the corperate world. It's only a matter of time.

As far as growing your own in the backyard on a legal basis....
It wont be anytime soon....I have seen articles where people in Australia are growing herb for there sick child, who's suffering from some terrible ailment. I think this is what the government has in mind.. Basically, giving these people the green light. Providing they have jumped thru all the hoops. Regulation, certification and more regulations.....That's the world we live in today.
