If making BHO then you would want your material as dry as possible. You can use fresh plant but you will yield less but higher quality live resin. If your making 6 star full melt bubble hash then whole plant fresh frozen is the way to go. Some people use 7 month cured flowers to process into oil with great results. Whatever you decide to do quality in equals quality out.

I have made plenty of bubble before, we just used to freeze fresh trim. We had basically oil from the lower bags before, after a few weeks cure. Lovely stuff just take ages to process it all

Surely it wont matter if the herb is dry, the alcohol will just remove all the thc. Same with making bubble

Heating the plant material or the oil to decarboxylation temperatures will evaporate off most of these smaller aromatic Mono-Terpene and Sesqui-Terpene molecules, before the larger and heavier cannabis Di-Terpenes are affected. Decarboxylated oil is smoother to the taste, but basically tastes like hash, with the floral undertones gone.

If you cure right and have a flavorful strain that has strong smell and flavor after it is ready to smoke, I would run it dry. If you run wet buds through a closed loop it normally will budder up without winterization methods
